Carlosan
Photogrammetry has started to gain steam within the Games Industry in recent years. At DICE, this technique was first used on Battlefield and they fully embraced the technology and workflow for Star Wars: Battlefront. This GDC 2016 talk from DICE's Keneth Brown and Andrew Hamilton covers how they built the technology and process to scan props from the Star Wars films to generate assets for the new Star Wars Battlefront. GDC talks cover a range of developmental topics including game design, programming, audio, visual arts, business management, production, online games, and much more.
Reputable Contributor digman Posted March 28, 2017 Reputable Contributor Share Posted March 28, 2017 (edited) The Kite demo from a few years ago by Unreal used Photogrammetry for some assets... In the video it starts around 5.00. Gnomon Founder and President Alex Alvarez has a video as well.. I purchased the Standard version of Photoscan a few months ago. Get a decent camera that shoots RAW image files and you are on your way with some research on shooting, delighting and if you use Photoscan, best practices. I plan on getting a Prime lens for my Sony A6000 soon for better low light shooting outside. I invested in 3 light soft-boxes for interior shooting.
