Advanced Member pickers Posted June 18, 2018 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 18, 2018 How to select certain portion of a retopo mesh (in retopo room) for fill painting? Take for example, i have a six sided cube. I have determined certain portions of the quads to be metal and the other part to be wood. I have tried using a single cube and separating the faces to two different retopo objects in the retopo room but they still get filled in as a single object in the paint room. Carlosan
If you have one face group on Retopo objects > 4 cells cubes and the another face group on Retopo objects > RetopoGroup1 When bake to Paint Room their appear named as 4 cells cubes and RetopoGroup1 on Window > Popups > paint Objects Use Fill tool > Tool options > objects to choose and fill one or another UVportion. Hope this help
Advanced Member pickers Posted June 18, 2018 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 18, 2018 Thanks but It did not work. The "Fill tool > Tool options > objects" will still fill the entire cube. I have tried the following which seems to work. 1) export out the selected faces from the retopo room, 2) delete the current faces that were exported. 3) reimporting it back 4) baking it 5) fill paint to the two sections. Hopefully, there would be something simpler.
Carlosan
You moved first any retopo face to the other lRetopo object ayer before ? And baked again the whole mesh after any change ? When you press "Fill tool > Tool options > objects" , did you see a popup window asking which model part need to fill ? That model part listed as paint objects corresponds to every Retopo object. The process is very simple.
