Member alonzo Posted April 20, 2009 Member Report Share Posted April 20, 2009 Hi all, I have a general question about 3D Coat. I hope this is the right section to ask it... I'm wondering in which language such a nice application could be written and ported into all systems? Would be nice to know... thx in advance Allan
Andrew Shpagin
I have written it in C++ in Visual Studio 2008. It was ported on OSX using X-Code (same sources, but other project with the same files but other defines) It is in process of Linux port... I really don't know what shell Linux programmer uses, possibly pure gcc

Javis
Awesome. I didn't know you were porting to Linux! Is v3 going to ship with a Linux release?
Member alonzo Posted May 3, 2009 Author Member Report Share Posted May 3, 2009 I have an other question according to C++... because Apple plans to remove Carbon completely from MacOS X SnowLeopard, does this means that 3D-Coat will not work then? I'm not so familiar with C++, sorry for my lack of knowledge... best regards Allan

I'm not so familiar with C++, sorry for my lack of knowledge... best regards Allan OSX version is Carbon based. But if they will completely remove Carbon, Photoshop will not woth too, because PS team as I know does not want to re-write PS to Cocoa. So, I am sure there will be some solution. And, even on 10.5 Carbon is not available for 64-bit apps (so there is no 64 bit PS on Leopard)
Member alonzo Posted May 15, 2009 Author Member Report Share Posted May 15, 2009 thx... for helping me out with this... is there the possibilty to buy a multiplattform licence?
Member Stanley Posted May 17, 2009 Member Report Share Posted May 17, 2009 A slightly more expensive cross-platform license is available for prior versions of 3D-Coat, so something similar will probably also be the case for the new release. Some additional information about Apple's decision to back off on 64-bit support from the Carbon framework in future versions of Mac OS X: http://daringfireball.net/2008/04/64000_question http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2008/04/photoshop_lr_64.html
