Radial Symmetry in Modelling Room - Guidance in correct usage

Question

I have been trying to use radial symmetry in the modelling room - sometimes with and without success, probably due to my lack of knowledge.

No specific issue - just trying to get it working and I have searched for guidance but not been able to find answers.

Is there any wiki or detailed documentation resources that I can refer to help me?

Any assistance in that regard would by much appreciated. Many thanks.

Hi Carlosan,

I have finally figured out my error - I was using Transform under "Selected" and not under "Add Geometry".

Thank you again for taking so much of your time for such a simple error on my part, and I really appreciate your help with this.

All the best.

Hi Carlosan,

Thank you very much for your response, but it seems as if what I need is not possible.

I have done this process manually with 6 edges but it is just time-consuming.

I illustrate what I am looking for :-

1) Select one edge in a 12-sided cylinder that has alternate faces extruded

2) Move all edges radially (simultaneously) in the direction as indicated by the arrows - set radial symmetry to 6, select one edge, move it and the rest follow.

Yes, I am using 2022.53 but still having difficulty.

Please explain (in text if possible) steps taken one by one as I am a newbie to 3DCoat modeling and sure I am missing something and doing it incorrectly.

Your time and assistance is very much appreciated.

nothing special

- I build the cylinder that has alternate faces extruded

- Select one edge in a cylinder that has alternate faces extruded

- activate symmetry radial, same radial order number as edges to move

- move edges

That is exactly what I tried but doesn't work for me - the edges slide but don't move inwards as per your example.

It must be me who is making an elementary mistake.

Thanks for the information and time taken to assist me.
