Member Seeda Posted August 19, 2009 Member Report Share Posted August 19, 2009 Hi . Haggi is programming a mental ray shader for the 3D Coat file. Take a look at German Mental Ray. http://forum.german-mentalray-wiki.info/vi...312934#p2312934 http://forum.german-mentalray-wiki.info/vi...03&start=90 And as you can see he makes good progress. But one big question is , how 3D Coat can definite the UV Coordinates in 3D Coat, and if there are UV Coordinates how can we use them, that we can put textures to the Voxelobject in Mental ray. Regards Seeda.
Member ScottSutherland Posted August 19, 2009 Member Report Share Posted August 19, 2009 Awesome but as far as I know Voxel objects dont have UV's
Advanced Member ShnitzelKiller Posted August 20, 2009 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 20, 2009 The way textures are mapped currently with the shaders with textures is via three-way projection... but UV coordinates for a voxel is impossible. Ok perhaps it is impossible in a direct way but maybe it could be possible with a trick, what about a dummy that projects the texture to the voxels. , but how can 3D Coat show us a solid objekt insteed of small voxels, if you render the voxelobjekt with 3D Coat , there you heve the possiblity to render it solid and not like a particle cloud. !? Contributor artman Posted August 23, 2009 Contributor Report Share Posted August 23, 2009 I think you should PM Andrew about this. It seems pretty advanced. All our answers as users would be only guessings I guess.
