Contributor Greg Posted October 19, 2010 Contributor Report Share Posted October 19, 2010 Wow! You're doing great for someone new to the program. Be sure to keep posting, and welcome! Greg
Member pencil-head Posted October 19, 2010 Author Member Report Share Posted October 19, 2010 Thanks Greg. I'm new to 3d coat, but not new to sculpting. But yeah it's been pretty easy to pick up 3DC and run with it. Credit to the programmers.
Member pencil-head Posted October 19, 2010 Author Member Report Share Posted October 19, 2010 quick render to see if my texture maps are working. I may have issues with uv smoothing around the borders but I think its good enough. Calling this one done. blender with some dodgy photoshoping
Advanced Member michalis Posted October 19, 2010 Advanced Member Report Share Posted October 19, 2010 Nice start here. You already involved with blender sss too. Go for multi pass render, compose them via nodes. But try to export one render at a time, compose them via layers in gimp or Ps. Blender nodes have some known bugs, when asking for blending methods like screen etc. Try to avoid this rubber like or plastic toy effect. Member pencil-head Posted October 20, 2010 Author Member Report Share Posted October 20, 2010 Thanks guys. @michalis: i'll definitely spend some more time on the shaders next time. I just slapped on a crappy shader coz i was more interested in seeing how the textures were looking rendered. @LJB: yeah i totally riped that of google. I can't claim credit for that. Member pencil-head Posted November 7, 2010 Author Member Report Share Posted November 7, 2010 This was an old model, started in zbrush but I've converted it to voxels and done more work to it.
Advanced Member Sandro Borg Posted November 7, 2010 Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 7, 2010 very nice sculpt pencil-head. i really like how you've done the muscles and form. i like the lighting/shading too - was the render done in 3D coat? and do you intend on animating it too? i think it would would look great i'm new to 3D Coat too,so it's very inspiring to see all this great work being done with it. btw,i love the alien head you posted in this thread too - very cool. Member pencil-head Posted November 9, 2010 Author Member Report Share Posted November 9, 2010 Thanks Sandro. Yeah, it was rendered in 3dcoat. Nothing special going on, just used the "default" material, 1 light with some AO. I mite do a little animation if i ever get around to it. Advanced Member Garagarape Posted June 17, 2011 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 17, 2011 Cool monster! I like its melt cheeks. What do you use to capture your videos? I know only Fraps but don't have much experience with it.
Member pencil-head Posted June 17, 2011 Author Member Report Share Posted June 17, 2011 Thanks Garagarape. I used CamStudio for the screen capture. It's free and easy enough to use.
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted June 17, 2011 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 17, 2011 Pencil-Head, Thanks for the tip. I'll have a try when more confident with sculpt.
