Member santox Posted February 23, 2011 Member Report Share Posted February 23, 2011 Hello & sorry for my english. I don´t know if i can post this dude here, if not, sorry again. im checking 3d coat to work with extra low-poly models (for web realtime engines, this models have 25-50 polys max) and i´m having unexpected results. two specific questions: *why after import the model (from lightwave) appears whis this smooth or phong effect? (pant_01.jpg) ...i have chosen "no subdivision" in import process. *Why when i paint directly in 3d view whith "cube mapping" selected i have this result? (pant_02.jpg) thanks a lot for any help... Javis
Hi! Could you post your LWO so I can take a look? Thanks!
Reputable Contributor digman Posted February 23, 2011 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted February 23, 2011 I'm assuming you are importing using for per-pixel painting. Keep the No subdivision but also check Auto smoothing groups and leave it at the default 30 for your Max. angle That should solve your first problem at least it does for obj models
Javis
Precisely what I am thinking.
Member santox Posted February 24, 2011 Author Member Report Share Posted February 24, 2011 UUuuau!! thnxx a lot for your quick aswer!! Exactly that!! I imagined that the second problem (Pant_02.jpg) was produced by the first (Pant_01.jpg). Probably the phong effect disorts the poly normal and the brush paints wrong in 3d view. solved the first problem second dissapears (Pant_03.jpg) (I used "Auto smoothing groups" max 30) thanks both again!!
