New Member seith Posted January 22, 2012 New Member Report Share Posted January 22, 2012 Hello, I'm just a newbie with 3d Coat and I'm trying to do a very simple operation, which is to split an edge while creating polygons (cf. attached image). And for the love of me I can't manage it! Please note that I'm not talking about the Split Edges tool, which is... well, another tool. I'm talking about splitting an edge while drawing polygons in Quad tool. Since it's a very basic operation I know it means I'm just too dumb to figure it out, but could anyone please help me? New Member seith Posted January 22, 2012 Author New Member Report Share Posted January 22, 2012 Oh my. I am... speechless. No comment. Anyway, thank you for your swift reply. And I did open a bill as you suggested.
Advanced Member johnnycore Posted January 22, 2012 Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 22, 2012 Dont think its possible to split edges/faces while creating one with the Quads tool, but I usually split faces with the Add/Split tool instead splitting the whole loop with the split ring tool. With the Add/Splitt tool you can cut (almost) any shape you like inside a face..

Javis
That's true, but you can still do it with the Add/Split tool to create pretty large numbered N-gons.
