It would be nice if you explained the steps you've performed that caused this crash.

Some routine questions: Have you installed the latest nvidia driver? Have you installed DX 9 on your computer?

Windows 7 includes DX 11 by default which does not include DX 9, you can download it from 3DCoat's download page.

Still, that being said we cannot help you unless you're using a stable version, that being 3.7 release or the newest beta build which as of this writing is 3.7.06. And before opening another version delete the options.xml, crashes like this can be caused by using an unstable build (which if I recall that particular one was in that unstable area).

PS - And why are you using such an old build anyway? There are plenty of newer builds to use with many more enhancements, tools and bugs squashed that it doesn't make any sense to use older ones (and especially that area that had a bit of instability).
