      To be honest, I gave the Modeling Room several tries to give it a fair chance. I looked up tutorials and followed them, and I was able to get decent results. But the biggest issue was that I had to study every single tool and manually assign every shortcut — it took a lot of time. Compared to my experience with Maya and 3ds Max, I prefer to keep modeling in those programs because they are more practical and robust. I don’t need to manually assign hotkeys or learn each tool in depth just to get good, fast results. I think the architecture of the Modeling Room needs some adjustments. Honestly, I’d rather see the development efforts focused on the real strengths of 3DCoat — Sculpting, Painting, UVs, and Retopology. I believe artists get frustrated because the learning curve is steep, and when they finally get through it, they realize that modeling is actually easier and more solid in other software. I do love the recent changes, especially the move to Python for scripting — that’s the industry standard. I just hope the developers remains aware of the absence of some important features going forward — and they listen to their community.

      Okay. I can see the problem and you would have similar issues in most 3D modeling apps. You have at least 2 extra faces on the end and that is creating havoc with your modeling tools. The solution is to go into SELECT mode (I hate calling it the Select tool because it really isn't a tool...it's a mode of operation) > choose Vertices > brush or freeform lasso select the vertices along the open edge or at least in the trouble area > RMB click and choose WELD VERTICES > adjust the distance value accordingly > hit APPLY and it should fix those offending faces/verts. Additionally, I personally would not use the Smart Extrude tool on open edges like that. You can, but using the Transform Tool does a great and very predictable job of extruding those edges (just hit the ENTER key or COMMIT EXTRUSION button each time you want to create a new edge or group of edges/faces), whereas the Smart Extrude tool is really designed to work with faces.

      In 3dcoat it is implemented as CTRL + LMB. Alt + LMB is for scene rotation.

Aside from artists and companies who use 3DCoat in their daily work without any problems. If you have upgraded to version 2025 and are not satisfied with either the software or the development, you can request a refund at sales@3dcoat.com

      bit of a lengthy video , but it shows my frustration with the current workflows of 3dcoat , being able to do basic tasks . i used the modelling room for 5 minutes and i couldnt carry on, ive been 3d modelling for many years now, i started when i was young , and im an old man now ... ive used many softwares over my time , but this is by far the hardest software to get to grips with .   Desktop 2025-05-05 00-48-47.mp4

      Thank you very much for sharing! I genuinly loved the process of designing and sculpting that thing. Prepare for an upcoming Wyvern series which I hope will be even more useful as a case study.

      @Carlosan@SERGYIthank you! I ended up trying to run 3DCoat through WINE. I wasn't expecting much, but it works better than native Linux. haha Anyways I really appreciate the response

      Based on previous feedback from users, "3DCoat" didn't launch because of user data "Documents/3DCoat" for "3DCoat 202x" and "Documents/3D-CoatV49" for "3DCoat V4". Close "3DCoat". Rename your user data "Documents/3DCoat" into something like "--3DCoat". Start "3DCoat". It will create a new user data folder, "Documents/3DCoat". Copy your scenes from the renamed user data folder into the newly created one.
