Member Vbr2809 Posted May 3, 2016 Member Report Share Posted May 3, 2016 Hello all, I have a problem with the edges on a normal map I made in 3d-coat. I made a spaceship in 3ds Max then imported to 3dc for sculpting. I then imported the lowpoly from Max to unwrap it in 3dc. I went to the retopo room imorted the lowpoly from Max, and somehow my model was out of scale, so I scaled it down so it fitted the highpoly and baked from there. All the edges looks like the photo. If I bake the map in xNormal using a cage the edges looks normal, but I like the details I get in 3dc better, so I want to fix the edges. Does any of you know what can cause this, maybe something with the settings? Thx in advance.
Carlosan
Are you changing your baking settings to find a good result ?
Member Vbr2809 Posted May 3, 2016 Author Member Report Share Posted May 3, 2016 (edited) Yeah I've tried changing the outer and inner scan depth, but nothing seems to work, the edges keeps being dark. Btw I should have mentioned, that I cant watch videos cause I'm on a really slow connection, sorry for that. Im using 3dc 4.0 Lowpoly mesh Cage Edited May 3, 2016 by Vbr2809
Carlosan
Normals are faceted ok ?
Member Vbr2809 Posted May 3, 2016 Author Member Report Share Posted May 3, 2016 (edited) Normals are faceted ok ? How can I see that? Does the inner shell need to be 100% inside the mesh, cause I cant get it to. And its exactly pointing out where Im getting the dark edges. Contributor Tony Nemo Posted May 3, 2016 Contributor Report Share Posted May 3, 2016 3-10 refers to the shell parameter for the inner shell. Just keep upping the number until the problem edge is invisible.
