  1. I don't need those so much. If there is "XYZ" scale and then separate X, Y, and Z scale it work just fine. for me at least.
  2. Cyartist. I liked a lot your manipulator. Very elegant and simple. I would go for them. And also the picture about manipulator that Phil send that's nice too.
  3. Thanks Andrew! I had only 5 minutes to try a new alpha but I really like the new shader settings.Very easy and powerful. Making your own shaders with 3d-coat could't be easier than this. Wonderful job Andrew. Maybe in the future it would be nice if there is on/off check box too.
  4. Hey that is really nice work. It really feels that there is a strong wind going on.
  5. Very good start. I like how detailed the model is already with only 377000 tris. great job.
  6. Akira. Thanks so much for Cook-Torrance shader I just love that shader and freedom it gives. I have done a small web page where is my portfolio using 3d-coat and I have used your shader and it works great. I hope we can have more option in the future like controlling ambience color etc...etc. Thanks again.
  7. Akira. Is it maybe too hard to make this shader http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread...ighlight=shader
  8. I would like if the rendered picture would stay on screen after finishing. Sometimes it renders the sculpt quite fast so I don't have time to see the final render. I have to go to folder and see it. It would be nice if there is a option like "Show last render" or something. Thanks.
  9. Psmith, I liked your post and I agree. I Really like the insider renderer of 3d-coat. The quolity verses speed is enough for me and I hope that in the future we could have control lights intensity and color more than now and maybe even add multiply lights. Shaders for example are really pleassure to study because only thing what you need is text editor. You edit your shader code and save it, go to 3d-coat and you are able to see change right away.
  10. This is good news. Thanks Andrew. I like this forum because you only hear good news.
  11. Thanks! I have found an interesting problem. If you create two layers and in both layers there is sculpts that are using your shader. You can change spec intensity by indivitual layer, but when it comes to diffuse color(backcolor) it is the same to both layers. Is is maybe how the program works. Or can you change your shader code to fix it.
  12. Hi! nice update. The 3d-coat GL version there something wrong because when press increase resolution button it creates black circle. It's like toon shade which is nice but I don't think it is planned and if you hit increase gain the black cirlce gets bigger. Also in DX mode when you press increase resolution it dosen't work correctly anymore. It seems that how far camera is from object effect on this behavior.
  13. Thanks so much. I'm excited to play with your shaders. It is really nice shader. I really like how you can control the shader quite well. Where we can found all the function that we can use to control our shaders. Like in this example BackColor would be perfect to control Spec color, but right now it is sacrifed to control spec intensity. can I ask you what Vdir and N means in the code?
  14. one good web page is http://www.cgtextures.com/ I have been using that for short time and it seems that there is quite a lot textures to use. Normal map support would be great. I tried to use mask effect and sculpt detail on surface but it's quite difficult to match mask and shader together. So Normal map option would be great.
  15. Hi Run! It's not a bug. You can adjust the border with SplitBorderWidth option. It shows at the bottom when you click Split. With Cut & Clone it seems that the cloned objects moves a little bit but actual cut edge is quite ok.
  16. Hi Everybody! This is a short tutorial how to make your own shaders. Shaders in 3d-coat are nice tools to spice up your work. Lately I have been working with 3d-coat shaders and I have found a way how you can change a picture to your shaders which creates a new shader. I'm not a programmer guru at all. So there is maybe many mistakes and ways how this can be done easier so feedback would be nice to have. Let's begin. If you go to C:\Program Files\3D-Coat-3-00-ALPHA\Shaders\Custom\DirtyStone. You see how the DirtyStone shader has been built. CustomShader1.dds is the file that includes the picture and our plan is to bring another picture which is in .dds format and replace the old one with the new one. So take your texture file that you are using. I have been using only .tga pictures but it should work with other types as well. First we have to convert our picture to .dds and we need this program to do that. http://developer.nvidia.com/object/dds_utilities_legacy.html download a build and install it. Press Start->All Programs->NVIDIA Corporation->DDS utilities->nvDXT and it gives good guide how to convert you picture to .dds type. I have been using this command: nvdxt -file texture.tga and the last part what we have to do is replace the old .dds file with a new one. Copy your new .dds file to C:\Program Files\3D-Coat-3-00-ALPHA\Shaders\Custom\DirtyStone and rename CustomShader1.dds to something else. and rename your .dds file to CustomShader1.dds. That's the way you have a new looking fancy amazing shader in your hand. In some cases You have scale your model up to see the shader a little bit better. I think it is possible to just add new shader and not replace, but I don't have no idea how to do that yet. Maybe somebody can help me with that. I have been using this way and started to build my web page and here is a quick sample what I have done so far. This is done with Alpha 56. Thanks!
  17. Hi! The latest alpha is just amazing again. I'm not quite sure can you do this already but I really like merge and cut&Clone tools when using "On Pen" option. but it seems that you can't rotate object anyway. This would be very important for me but what you think about this???
  18. Welcome back Andrew! Good to hear that you have made some good progress. Don't worry if you are not always here. I know some 3d forums that develloppers really never come to tell anything. This application is already so good that I would like to say that take a long holiday....but I don't. I'm excited to see what comes next. It's like a small Birthday present everytime when the alpha comes out.
  19. This is great! thank you some much. I have only one question. When I tried to follow how to make normal maps it seems that it flips my normal. details which should go up it's going down. I don't quite follow when you said "normal map on the texture tab and map it in UV space to the normal channel (negative, click twice)" is this and my problem maybe related.
  20. Hi Everybody! This is something that I would like to see too. I have been using View->show 2d grid and it works quite well with E-panel. I would like to have a option that I can lock 2d grid when I'm zooming&move viewport that it will follow my 3d grid if you follow me??. when using 2d grid you can press shift and press rotate button and it will rotate only 30 degrees. In the future I would like to see symmetry improves that I can scult using XY-symmetry same time for example.
  21. Thanks Andrew. That helps a lot me too.
  22. It's relly amazing piece of art. Everything is perfect. Good job. Do you have plans to sculpt a full body?
