  1. Well the story was easy to guess but it forgets to show the time machine she used to make time go by so quickly... The story was ok but it's problem is it trys to put too much into it for the timescale so when sintel travels and it looks like about 2 days max it's actually years or maybe dragons just get giant quickly. @michalis - I mean it shows it's good when considering that it was only using a beta version when the project started. To have done something much better they should have started the sintel project now though because the beta is much more advanced now than it was before, this project was probably good for blenders development though.
  2. It was quite good, i thought that it was going to be a longer film though. The story was ok but i guessed the ending correctly, quite good renderings also even with problems although at the end of the day they were i think working with a 2.5 beta that didn't have all the current features when the project started. This definitely shows that blender is a great program, has a lot of power and can be used to make decent 3d animations.
  3. On Andrews twitter page last time i looked it seems that bug fixes and optimization will be the next focus. Myself and others have posted various GUI bugs/glitches/suggestions also so if some of those get sorted that would be good. That is great news though and will hopefully mean the next version will be faster for some tools also. Edit (With the quotes, and some typo corrections hehe) - And today i notice this so it looks like there will indeed be speed increases which is great news -
  4. For those edges this is the type of effect i was talking about in the forum post here - http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6506&view=findpost&p=49477 I usually use smooth or increase with a low value to try and correct that which works a bit but it can be destructive though. If Andrew could add some sort of way to fix those with a edge tool or new mode to get a more crisp edge that would be amazing. One thing i notice is when you draw with the snake tool etc the preview looks perfect but then when it merges it as voxels it creates the edge distortions. So i wonder how those previews work and if that is polys and then later made to voxels but it seems they have far more detail.
  5. Not really a bug or request but one thing i have noticed recently is for merge and snake etc a few folders seem to be less suited for one thing or need a few more in the folder as there is just a few. For example i think one was called pen tips that was for snake tool but they didn't seem to work that great but would however for merge tool instead. The folders for some like i think plants had just a few but i guess these will expand in size with time though. The merge and snake tools are getting used all the time now for me though and i have made a few of my own also. The new model pack is really amazing also, it really shows that these tools can be used for amazing things. The only thing we need now is maybe some sharpen edge/corner tool to make diagonals and corners better as the steps effect they get can stand out still even at high res. This program is definitely starting to get good for hard surface models now though.
  6. I was thinking the option to create a displacement/normal/bump map using the proxy data/difference of low and high detail voxels would be good. Normally you would just make a new one for the low poly with painting but this might work well and could be a quick way to get a good starting point directly from voxels.
  7. No problem and i doubt the mods/others would mind too much as it is some amazing work. By the way if anyone has not seen them yet check out the new library of primitives available, they are great for this type of workflow. There is images and a video of these on the V3.5 info page. Version 3.5 page - http://www.3d-coat.com/3d-coat-35/
  8. Nice work futureproof Increasing the res is the best way, having the option to merge with default detail would be a really amazing option to have though. That would be great because when the res goes up i think it's for all voxels so the best way is to start with high res at the moment. I know you can reduce polys with export also but that and a poly/voxel reduction brush tool to apply to certain areas similar to the one in sculptris would make things amazing for this type of workflow.
  9. Yeah i think so and his work is great. These threads might be of interest - http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6244 http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6177
  10. A editor would be nice although it's fairly easy to make these. By the way you should maybe make a single forum topic with various idea rather than many topics. It's easier to find other ideas then and also they would all be in one place.
  11. Congrats on the release and many thanks, great work. Yeah i agree, if you work with a program a lot even with cool features if there is bugs and GUI problems that can be a problem. I have been listing various issues i have noticed and added some today - http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6259 I posted about them in the previous thread but that will probably get ignored now there is a new one. It lists various GUI things and suggestions also so maybe not the best forum area for it but i wanted to keep it in one thread rather than making loads of threads. Hopefully this is not off topic, but yeah +1 vote for bug fixes and GUI updates next.
  12. Well i have also found various bugs so i see nothing wrong with wanting bug fixes done in updates really. There actually has been various bug fixes for the point releases so Andrew has fixed various things for 3.5 already. Not everyone follows the progress of those or might not visit the forum regularly so i have to agree that comment did seem slightly negative, there is nothing wrong with you opinion Grandmaster B and i want bug fixes also. In fact i actually un-installed 3DC today due to a bug where it messes up all the shader preview images. I am waiting until 3.5 is released to install it again hopefully restoring them to the way they were before but the bug is still there and it would be good to get it fixed. Edit - Installing 3.5 fixed the broken shader preview images as i had hoped. The bug is there still there i am guessing but i don't plan on testing, i listed how it happened part way down the first post in my bugs/ideas list here - http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6259&view=findpost&p=47340
  13. I just added some more bugs/problems i found to my bugs and suggestions thread - http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6259&st=0&gopid=49092entry49092
  14. Yeah i agree and they would have so many uses also, everything from textures to voxel terrains. There was a forum thread about this recently where i posted about Acropora recently before i found out it was getting a update. - http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6438 Also weather effects would be great - http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4306&st=0&p=33438entry33438 For weather effects that could be based about noise/math based modifiers though. I can just imagine a tool to melt a model so it acts like wax burning and melts down or wind where it sweeps parts of the surface across slightly the longer you press the tool over it etc, basically the same sort of results as a physics engine only tool based and not animated. Distortion/modifier tools could also be really useful i think, it would basically be like photoshop style effects you can customize for 3d voxels.
  15. Today when reading the cgsociety forum today i just noticed they have a preview of the new version of Acropora which now has voxel animation. On the news page it has some youtube videos of the new features - http://www.voxelogic.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=32&Itemid=1 Update Info - Acropora 1.2 is approaching Beta soon. Check out some of the new features: * Full animation of base objects, regions, meshes, modifiers and filters. * Spline controllers * Voxel volume transformations * Path objects * Cellular noise * Gabor noise * Autodesk Studio MAX mesh loaders for animated sequences
  16. The new GUI helps things a lot i think, like many others i wouldn't have ever tried it if they had not done that update. I am used to it's workflow now which has a learning curve but for a free app it is great and can do so many things. It's best strength is the fact it can be expanded with python and not just builds so there is often great new features and addons getting made, it makes me wish 3DC had python or lua etc scripting.
  17. Thanks, does that mean when you post on Twitter it is probably going to be in the latest update even if not on the main changelist?
  18. This is blender sclupt though not sculptris, i don't think it uses the sculptris code either but certain things are inspired by how sculptris works. I know people probably know this though but blender sculpt should get a new thread maybe which is why i say this. Btw - On the blender artists forum in the main thread there has been a few quite high detail sculpt images posted.
  19. +1 vote I have suggested this before and think it would be great, the program voxelogic Acropora does this well with voxels - http://www.voxelogic.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=9&Itemid=16 Blender also does this for textures which you can use to displace surfaces so it works great for textures and bumpmaps also. Noise is great for making 3d environments like stone surfaces and terrains so this would be very useful.
  20. Adding on to what Taros says about saving setting at exit with those types of things it's always good to have a reset to default also. It's great to keep the good settings but there is times when you might edit things and then not like the settings so much so a base preset that you can go back to is always useful. With a decent preset system that would probably not be needed though as it would keep the settings and then all you would have to do is pick a new preset from various presets available and it is sorted.
