  1. Leigh, I'm curious to know how you're taking your rough sculpt and refining it to something more polished. From my experience to get effective crisp edges and whatnot it almost makes more sense to re-build things that you know the final shape of, either with a more effective use of primitives or retopoing > exporting mesh to max/maya to adjust the shape and add loops/smooth modifiers etc. > re-import and merge back into the scene. That seems kind of ridiculous to me, so maybe you can help shed some light on your methods for me?
  2. So far the E mode (lasso) painting works like a charm when camera is zoomed really far in. I keep getting really anxious every time I let go of the stroke but it's looking awesome so far. Thanks for finally getting that one solved Andrew, it's a huge help to my workflow.
  3. Finally got my upgrade link, seems pretty neat but it'll definitely take some getting used to to try and figure out how all the new toys work.
  4. "fixed: drawing with E panel modes was hanging sometimes on very close look to model." This would make my life so much easier, very excited to give it a go.
  5. Was this ever addressed? I've never seen an improvement in this area even after deleting the options file. I want really precise selections with the lasso, but when I zoom in and make a shape it freezes for a minute or more.
  6. How do the new copy tools work/how are they different than the old ones? I'm a little confused.
  7. Inflate brush is a nice addition to the arsenal. My only input is that even when you were using the soft edge alpha in the demo, it looks like the edges of the stroke are really hard, should have been a lot more feathering I thought considering the alpha.
  8. Excited to see what happens with R2, I don't think ZB always adds the most useful features but their sculpting is hard to beat imo.
  9. I'd love to get this back, it was a really nice tool to be able to use both programs together.
  10. is there a way to use the LC feature while using the other brushes in surface mode? Can you tick it on somehow and use the other brushes with it turned on or can you just change the alphas on the LC "brush"? I'd really like to use a LC pinch brush.
  11. Is anyone having problems with brushes in regular voxel mode? The airbrush and the extrude brushes are giving me really strange behaviours. I can't sculpt on the forward facing surfaces, but can on the very furthest away surfaces that start to turn away from the viewport. I tried deleting options.xml in the hopes that it was just something screwed up on my end, but it didn't help. On windows 64 w/cuda
  12. is this broken with 3.5.18? I can't get 3d-coat to send anything back to Zbrush
  13. Thanks BK. What character were you working on? I was toying around with doing an MMA-ish Terry Bogard, but never really got off the ground with it. Did you make any progress before your wrist problems? Here's another bit of progress on this
  14. Anyone else working on Dominance War around these parts? I'm not really a 3d guy, but it's been somewhat of a hobby for the last year or so when I get the free time (mostly do illustration/concept/textures fwiw), so I thought it'd be a fun project. Been bouncing back and forth between 3d-coat/Zbrush mostly with a little bit of Max mixed in. Curious to see if anyone else is participating.
  15. Can anyone confirm a slight buildup on the end of strokes in voxel volume/surface room? I don't really use 3d-coat for sculpting much, but I've been toying around with it more than usual as of late and I'm noticing this very consistently. If needed I'll put together a screenshot of what I mean.
  16. Thanks Spiraloid, appreciate you shedding light on that for me. Unfortunately I can't get anything that resembles clean results, no clue why though. Everything I do seems to paint a blob to roughly match the surface of the reference voxel layer. Love seeing these experiments of yours, truely shows what this program is capable of.
  17. what tools are you using at the beginning of the video where it almost looks like you draw on a mask, refine it and then start to pull that shape out to create panelling etc.? Can't figure out for the life of me how you're doing it.
  18. *bump* I've recently run into this same problem. Upon inspection today I noticed the undo folder was taking up 90gb of space on my hard drive. I'm running most everything on a 256gb solid state drive, but have a 1tb drive I'd like to set up to run as a scratch disk (if that's the correct usage in this scenario?). Can I move that to the other drive by chance? Andrew, using 8k maps and multiple layers builds up this folder really fast I believe, If I don't open/close 3d-coat frequently it eats up a ton of space on my drive. Perhaps limiting the number of undos would help this problem? this is the full path: C:\Users\(edited)\Documents\3D-CoatV3\Undo
  19. using the stamp tool in voxel mode (at very large sizes) is crashing 3d-coat for me pretty consistently.
  20. e-panel hotkeys will be nice, but I wish I could assign an e-panel function to a brush and/or tools too so that it retains the functionality when I switch back and forth between them. If I'm using a brush with the lasso tool active and switch to curves, it kind of annoys me to see the little green lines everywhere.
  21. very cool update on the smooth tool. should probably be mentioned that going past 100% smoothing in volume mode still creates tons of artifacts. Only complaint now is that shift modifier for smooth still holds the alpha of the active tool. Really kills workflow for me.
  22. I'm glad you mentioned this Beatkitano. I think the smooth brush behavior in 3dcoat is my biggest obstacle in regards to using 3dcoat for sculpting. It infuriates me quite honestly, it's WAY underpowered even after 1 or 2 +res's and it almost feels like it pushes down into the mesh. Also, using the shift modifier for smoothing should not keep the alpha from whatever tool I have active. I'm not sure how many people feel the same in regards to the smooth tool(s), but it causes me too much grief to consider 3dcoat as a viable sculpting option for me.
  23. I think he only changed the mac build since he had to re-upload it. Are you on PC?
  24. I keep getting the "there is no 3d-coat running!" message when I try to send it over to 3d-coat from Zbrush. Any ideas?
  25. Transform in retopo room is awesome. Basically gives us a very simple poly modeller that can hopefully be expanded upon.
