  1. Yes, but I bet it was even more pressure with your first gigi being a family member! I use LW and 3DC for small parts of my current day to day job, but I need to get my backside into gear and get my freelance site up. And then try and get my first gig. Will you post a textured version of the model when it's done? Really looking forward to seeing it. All the best, Ricky.
  2. I can't wait for the moment when I can become a freelancer. You must be smiling from ear to ear with such positive feedback at this early stage. Great modelling Phil, as usual. Great idea with the numbers. So nice to see such fantastic work using just LW and 3DC. Look forward to the updates. Ricky.
  3. wow, simple, quick and effective use of tinkers objects.
  4. Thanks for the tips mate. I was working in Proxy mode. I will avoid and give the other tools a go. Et oui, il devrait être dans votre langue, mais semble être codé en dur. Cheers, Ricky.
  5. Hi BeatKitano, Arrh, I remember now. I have used this mode before but I always seem to end up with the error 'CantGetBackToVoxels' or similar, so I've avoided it. I have read the manual, but mainly for UVs. Now they I'm getting heavily into sculpting, I may have to return to it. Cheers, Ricky.
  6. Hi Phil, Where are you getting those menus from? I don't have Mud, Gun etc. Am I being stupid or something? I install the latest version over previous versions, do I need to clear out some log files or preferences? Cheers, Ricky.
  7. Oh Andrew.... I've just downloaded and installed version 3.5.06B and for me that has to be the fastest version ever. I have a 29 mill tris object open and I can still sculpt on it. Total amazing. Thank you so much.
  8. Here's a scene I've put together using the cheese and cheese board creating and textured in 3DCoat. I've finally got my head around nodel texturing and the dielectric node works excellently on the glass. Ricky.
  9. Sorry Frederic. For some reason I missed your reply. Thanks for the feedback. LW10 is starting to look a lot different than other versions and it's a lot quicker. VPR is similar to FPrime, but it's now part of both Core and Layout (and quick too). You can voxel model in 3DC, retopo, paint and export to LW and see your model in realtime rendering. Still playing and learning. What's the learning curve like with Maya? Cheers, Ricky.
  10. Evening Sandro, I've just downloaded the latest build and it was very slow. Could be a lot of people downloading it all at once. I also have to say that it's never been a fast download from the newtek site anyway. Keep trying. Cheers, Ricky.
  11. I downloaded the new version and had a quick play with it. I noticed speed differences using scrape, smooth and clay. I also noticed an increase whilst exporting to lwo. Going to try and put some time aside this weekend and start a model from scratch in 3DC, retop, paint and render in LW10. Thanks again Andrews for the update. Ricky.
  12. He He. Yes, I've had 'Wave of Light' or 'Waves of Light' for a long time on other forums (F3D, Newtek, SpinQuad). 3DC to LW is seamless, as far as I have tested (and vice-versa). Check out the very quick cheese I did by following the link in my sig. I've got some Arch Viz stuff I'm looking at at the mo, so I've sort of dropped off learning/testing 3DC for a while. However, what I can say is modelling in 3DC (Voxel) and then retopo to create a mesh, then being able to paint not only colours, but depth and detail, is amazing and worth the money alone. I wish I'd have had it, or attempted to incorporate it for my cartoon characters (one of which is the avatar). I haven't even scratched the surface of what 3DC is capable of and I'm already happy with it. There are still lots more to learn though. You'll find that the creators and designers of 3DC are quick to update and introduce new features. Andrew is always looking at ways to streamline and speed up the software. You'll also find the forum very friendly. As for LW10... well, you'll see when you get the package! Ricky.
  13. Welcome Sandro, I too have LW10 and recently purchased 3DC. Just the UV mapping part and being able to paint directly onto your mesh is amazing. Also, with VPR in LW10 you'll be able to see just how your models will look without having to press F9 and wait for a render. Ricky.
  14. New brushes... gonna have to wait till tomorrow before I can download and install the new version. Thanks Andrew.
  15. Greg, Nice find. well worth a fiddle for free. Ricky.
  16. Michalis, That is very impressive. Can I ask (and Im not fanboying 3DC here) but what stopped you from getting to a 8k baked version straight from 3DC, instead of having to use all the other programs you stated above. Cheers, Ricky.
  17. I'm with Phil on this one. I only had probs with plugins that didn't have 64bit support, so back to 32bit. I was part of hardcore and I have to say the VPR is excellent, even on slower machines. Going to have to look deeper into Liner workflow. I've been back through the Newtek TV site to look at some of the vids I've missed. I'm really looking forward to knuckling down and getting back to character creation in LW10, 3DC and being able to rig and see it live in the VPR. Ricky.
  18. Wow, that's a very nice Horse you have there. 24 mil tris and still working. I think my PC would have had trouble with that. Look forward to seeing this textured. On a side note.. I liked Sculptris too, but I've heard that the makers of ZBrush have bought it and the developer, to incorporate it into Zbrush of the coming years. Ricky.
  19. Hi Garagarape, Thanks for checking out my posts. I Modelled in 3DC (Voxel) from a wedge object imported from Lightwave. I then did some retopo and created a mesh to be able to paint on. I downloaded various images of cheese (mainly brie and camembert) and pulled those in as materials to be able to protection paint. Then I cleaned up the UVs that were automatically created by 3DC, before exporting into LW for rendering. Japan and cheese... I never knew that. So it is difficult to get good types of cheese in Japan then? Cheers, Ricky.
  20. Thanks for the feedback Greg. I'm getting use to the UI now. Next i want to work on detail (i seem to be having high poly count voxel sculpts without hard edge detail) and setting up my UI shortcuts. Cheers, Ricky.
  21. Getting quicker at base sculpting. This was 3 hrs on and off. Cheers, Ricky.
  22. Very clever. I've just given that a try and it works a charm. Love the goat by the way. Ricky.
  23. Yep, I tried extending the window across both screens and then increasing the menus, but it didn't work how I was expecting, so I just reverted back to single screen. Phil, thanks for the info on Ptex.
  24. Sorry to hijack Beeavision, but Greg... I was under the impression that LW didn't support Ptex... or, are you saying that the 'merge with ptex' will just produce a UV map with more dense and detailed areas (user defined) that can still be used and imported into LW. Ricky.
