  1. i keep everything at 100%, because due to the screen size, everything is just like a 24" 1080p display. so scaling doesn't come up as an issue. ( just need to disable it all, if it come up by default)
  2. how does this stack up against gpu renders ( apart from the 8.6million poly thing) Speed wise.
  3. i dunno, its nice that at least someone makes this stuff. nvidia could just pull an "apple" and go: Hey, more money in the consumer market, pro market be dammed.. And that's it we are stuck with whatever we have. Kinda like what happened to CPU's where it seems intel has just completely given up on increasing speeds.
  4. but the ghosting comes back when you turn off the tv and turn it back on. And also i noticed a strange kinda grainy noise across the whole screen. noticable on gradients, kinda like a dithering effect it seems. But you got to be pretty close up to see it. Anyway, I still love it though. the screen realestate is just sooo convenient! so maybe for print artists not so great. but for doing animations and character design, im just loving it sooo much!
  5. renaming the hdmi port to "PC" seems to get rid of most of the ghosting. also turning down the brightness has a pretty large affect on its strength.
  6. actually just noticed some pretty serious motion shadows, the ones usually associated with high response times on a monitor. But i think it might be in the setting somewhere, because on my other lg monitor, there is a setting to adjust this.
  7. wow! amazing work! i want to see where this goes!
  8. wow texture baking seems awesome! not sure how they remove polygon size limit. but this really does sound great.
  9. 384bit memory, 12gb (of hopefully real) ram, i think in like 4 months im sold.
  10. just a small update, there was a deal on the 49ub850v that i just couldn't refuse ( granted it was a floor model, couple of scratches on the stand and frame). But whatever, i got it, and everything works great on it. No color casting, 60fps. Everything's lovely =)
  11. yeah, defintly cloud rendering for me. I don't render animations locally any more... i just don't have the patience for it..
  12. yeah, thats what i was thinking, ( dont mind that i need another card, already got a 970 and 2 free pci slots). was just wondering if anyone got any comparative benchmarks or something.
  13. can this be used for gpu rendering? and if it can is it actually $5000 worth of performance?
  14. technically this isnt a titan black. its a titan X, which happens to be painted black.
  15. im thinking of buying a laptop with a 970 in it. on the websites its shown that it has 6gb of memory. Is that real memory or do i get this crippled stuff? Where could i check?
  16. so um, how do join? and get some of this moneys?
  17. i think in that case they mean 4k as is 4x 1080p. since technically that is 4k. Especially in gaming, since one 970 can handle one 4k screen at reduced settings, i don't think it can handle 4 4k screens at anything reasonable =) also my card is the asus, not gigabyte, so i can only plug in 2 4k screens.
  18. I think this little thing would take it pretty far at being more user friendly for beginners. I know its a small thing, but it can't be that difficult to implement. was just watching the Master Class rock sculpting video posted here a while back. And when he brings his rock sculpt into zbrush it looks so nice, no wonder he prefers adding details and surfacing it there. Even though 3d coat is just as capable..
  19. hm... i think you may be the first person to suggest running more than 1 4k display at the same time google doesn't show anything about running more than one 4k monitor at once... edit: looks like my card (970 strix) can only run 2 4k monitors. because i have 1 hdmi, 1 display port and 2 dvi ports, and dvi doesnt support 4k =(
  20. looks like phillips read my thread: http://www.pcgamer.com/philips-bdm4065uc-monitor-review/ this things seems like a really solid choice. apart from the lack of 3D.. not that i use it much, but could the occasional movie in 3D is pretty awesome.. and its quite a bit cheaper as it appears. edit: just checked: its a VA panel, which doesn't have teh viewing angles of an IPS, and the colors distort at angles, which is a pretty big deal when sitting close to a screen like this.. damn these choices..
  21. how do you guys use a tablet on 2 screens? with regular apps dual screen make sense, but in 3d coat you're mostly painting and sculpting, switching screens with a tablet is a pain..
