Andrew Shpagin
3D-Coat 2.10.05 released! This service update contains bugfixes and adds several features to improve workflow and usability for both - Win and Mac OS versions. Changes in 2.10.05 (since 10.05.04): 1) Better painting of strokes - strokes intersection and blending looks much better as it shown below. 2) In LWO exporter you can choose export type - faces or subpatches. 3) Change mesh resolution will automatically change textures for export resolution in uv-sets manager to simplify workflow. 4) Progress bars are more accurate now. 5) Clicking beyond box of numerical input will we treated as OK pressing. 6) Symmetry plane position and state will be stored in 3B file. 7) Environment view mode shows freeze state and non-upside down envmap Stability improvements. 9) Mac OS keys mapping improved. Changes 2.10.00->2.10.04 1) New item in Import/export - Save normalmap (tangent space, Layer0 based). This option is especially important if you imported model without smoothing. Using this option you can export normalmap without artifacts on edges because tangent space is based on layer 0, not vertex - based like in other options. Possible workflow: open mesh without smoothing, import normalmap, add details on other layer (not Layer0 or normalmap layer) and export new normalmap using this command. 2) Pen operating improved - now you can enable/disable pen pressure acting on radius/depth/opacity/smoothing/specularity. 3) It is possible now to add entire folder of materials. Files that contain mask *_depth.*, *_bump.*, *_displ.*, "*_alpha.* will be trated ad depth channel, files *_color.*, *_diffuse.*, *_clr.* will be treated as a color, files *_spec.* will be treated as specular textures. 4) Compatibility with older 3B files improved. 5) Vista registering problem finally solved. 6) Vista long invert freeze issue solved. 7) Several sculpting issues fixed. Undo disabled in Merge visible layers - it is almost useless but takes too much time. Anyway user will be warned before operation. 9) New funny creature in samples Windows link: www.3d-coat.com/files/3d-Coat-2-10-05-sp.exe Free textures pack link: www.3d-coat.com/files/3d-Coat-2-FreeAddon.exe Mac OS link: www.3d-coat.com/Serega/3D-Coat-2-10-05u.dmg Mac OS free textures pack: www.3d-coat.com/Serega/3D-Coat-2-FreeAddon.dmg

Advanced Member akira Posted September 2, 2008 Advanced Member Report Share Posted September 2, 2008 Fantastic!! Thank you so much Andrew!! Is there any option to turn on to get the improvement of painting stroke? Because I still get the same looking as the old one with standard pen. Cheers! Advanced Member SonK Posted September 2, 2008 Advanced Member Report Share Posted September 2, 2008 Yeah! Sweeet Andrew, thanks for saving the symmetry in the .3b file. One thing though i have "show symmetry plane" off, it should be off when i open the file again. Is there any option to turn on to get the improvement of painting stroke?Because I still get the same looking as the old one with standard pen. Cheers! I'm getting the old one also.. If stroke intersects itself it will be like before, but new stroke overlap old with new type of blending. Please show screenshot.

Cool!! It worked!! And it works better when transparency is lower than 1.0 (like 0.65). Amazing improvement!!

Member Can Posted September 5, 2008 Member Report Share Posted September 5, 2008 Hi there, I am new to 3D-Coat, too. Just bought it today and it is worth every Cent! I was looking since long time to ZBrush, but it is to expensive and very chaotic to me. Since few weeks I came along and saw 3D-Coat,,, now I am here, happy with my new Tool and the best of all is,,, it´s easy to use and I love it! Thank you very much for this piece of Gold, Andrew. Using it with SpaceNavigator and Wacom is just FUN! I tryed to blow up Polycount at loading the "sample.obj". 3D-Coat shows me in the status bar that I got around 35 million Polygons in the view and it is running flowly with around 50 frames per second!? Is that right!? If yes,,, that´s really mad and this Software is not from this planet!! Greets, Can

Actually mid-res model is shown with normalmap from hi-res.
