New Member sirseko Posted October 25, 2017 New Member Share Posted October 25, 2017 Hi, Is there a way to instruct 3D-Coat to explicitly triangulate a mesh exported from the retopo room? I need this because I want to use the model in Unreal Engine 4 and Substance Painter, and both use different algorithms for triangulation. I've tried triangulating the exported model in Blender, but that just made it "blocky". Cheers, Dave
Reputable Contributor Featured Comment Fluffy Posted October 25, 2017 Reputable Contributor Featured Comment Share Posted October 25, 2017 You can triangulate a retopo mesh during texture baking by enabling the Triangulate option, then just export the model from the Paint Room.
New Member sirseko Posted October 26, 2017 Author New Member Share Posted October 26, 2017 Thank you so much, this is just what I was looking for! I haven't really considered going into the Paint room as I've only thought of it as a means to... paint :P Turns out it has some handy extra functionality to it. Thanks again! Reputable Contributor Fluffy Posted October 26, 2017 Reputable Contributor Share Posted October 26, 2017 Glad that it helped, and yes 3D Coat really is a treasure trove of features just waiting to be explored! I must admit despite owning both Substance Painter/Designer and Quixel neither of them get very much use in my current workflow as I find the tools in 3D Coats Paint Room to be more than adequate for most tasks and constantly switching apps and importing/exporting files can be such a pain at times.
Contributor Michaelgdrs Posted October 26, 2017 Contributor Share Posted October 26, 2017 Totally agree , same feelings here. But i must admit that i love (almost the same , almost lol) SD , SP and Quixel as well.
