When under the UV command section, See the selected section shown in the picture. Create hotkeys for these 3 commands. Upper UI--- select edges. UV preview window ------ select an edge in the uv island. Use the hotkeys to create the edge loop / ring and finally the seam. 3DC has been user driven development in a number of ways. Many many tools we have today are a direct result of user input. If you need a more efficient method for your production pipeline, I would send an e-mail to support pointing out this thread. Does this mean it will happen soon or later, that really depends upon the development schedule of 3DC and the team's final decision of the request.
