Member EmperorHamHam Posted October 28, 2020 Member Report Share Posted October 28, 2020 Hi there, It looks like I have an old error is back with the latest build of 3D Coat. When using the Smart Material Preview I can see a nice looking gradient but when I click layer fill it turns out all wonky and not a gradient across the surface of my model as expected from the Smart Material Preview. This model in question is in Vertex Paint mode, so no UVs . I just tested this on a UV model and it works as intended...so I guess my question is does this tool not work in Vertex Paint mode or is it a BUG? I would love it to work on Vertex paint so I could fire it back into ZBrush and continue working on it there without the hassle of UVs. Thank you for your time, Cheers
Advanced Member sprayer Posted October 28, 2020 Advanced Member Report Share Posted October 28, 2020 It works fine to me, and the same in GL version. Try to reset settings maybe this helps
Member EmperorHamHam Posted October 28, 2020 Author Member Report Share Posted October 28, 2020 Hi Sprayer, Does your model above have UV's and you are painting that in Vertex paint mode? When I have a UV'd model it works fine, its when I bring in a non UV'd model from ZBrush and Vertex Paint it in 3DCoat that the Gradient fill tool does not work as expected from what the Smart Preview shows. I will try resetting to defaults though, maybe that will help. Worth a shot.
Member EmperorHamHam Posted October 28, 2020 Author Member Report Share Posted October 28, 2020 Snap, well not much of a surprise but resetting did nothing. Guess I'll need to auto generate UV's if I want to use this tool for the time being. Thanks for the attempt though Sprayer. Cheers

Reputable Contributor Silas Merlin Posted October 29, 2020 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted October 29, 2020 I can confirm that fill with gradient does not work with vertex painting in 4.9.65 GL
