Member Mix Mash Posted December 14, 2009 Member Report Share Posted December 14, 2009 Just quickly, when you retopologise, is it possible to select polygons (retopo polygons, not reference mesh polygons) and give them a new grouping so that when I export the retopo mesh that I can have some polygons as different surfaces? Thanks
Taros
Why don't you do this in the render application ?

Thanks Very easy ,there is powerful grouping features in "Retopo Groups" panel. You can create retopo layers as you work using the "Add a New Layer" button. (Look for the Photoshop-like icons at the bottom of the panel) You can toggle layers visibility On/OFF,export them and transfer them completely or partially to new or existing layers. And what is great,is that those retopo layers remain as layers even if polys are connected. You can export them individually or altogether through retopo menu "export"and "export Selected". If you use "export", the .Obj will have material IDs automatically assigned for all your retopo groups!!! (If you change the .Obj file location just dont forget to move the corresponding .Mtl file with it) When you got any faces selected, you can transfer those selected polys to an empty retopo group layer using: "Move Selected Faces To Current Layer". ( another little icon at the bottom of retopo groups panel) ---READ THE Tips when hovering over icons they are pretty well explained. Cheers.
