Member frerin Posted May 12, 2010 Member Report Share Posted May 12, 2010 I set up 'B' as a hotkey for my brush tool, but now every time i hit 'B' it selects brush and opens up the color picker. I tried to delete the hotkey for color picker by hitting the backspace button like it says in the hover help but it didnt do anything. How do I delete this hotkey? Member iangregory Posted May 12, 2010 Member Report Share Posted May 12, 2010 Hi, I think that B is the hotkey for the color-picker. I didn't think you could assign dual tools to one hotkey (but who knows). Try hovering over the brush tool, hit the END key and define the B key to the brush (you'll probably get a message that the b key is assigned to the color picker). Then, change tools to something else and hit the b key. It should bring up the brush and no color picker. Now, hover over the brush icon and hit the backspace key. Should un-assign b from anything. Hope this helps! Ian
Javis
Works for me here. First you need to clear the existing hotkey: Go to Windows>Popups>Color Picker and hover over Color Picker. Then hit your Backspace key. This will clear the existing hotkey. Now hover over the tool you want to assign, in this case the Brush tool. Hit the END key, and now hit "B" to assign it to the brush tool. In the next build, we will be able to have the same hotkey for multiple tools, modes, and other things. This will allow us to cycle multiple tools, modes, etc., all with one hotkey.

Advanced Member lc8b105 Posted May 13, 2010 Advanced Member Report Share Posted May 13, 2010 please tell me: wich is ENDkey in mac? Hi moska, likes many people here, I'm a Mac user too. I guess you must didn't read "3D-Coat hotkeys master" yet. On page 7 of "3D-Coat hotkeys master", the Secret Tips section, the answer is already there. Download "3D-Coat hotkeys master" from here http://cgdigg.com/3dc.php Hope this helps.

Javis
I hit backspace while hovering over the color picker and it didn't do anything. I'm guessing my copy is bugged. No, it's not bugged, you're doing it wrong. Don't hover over the color picker itself, hover over the TEXT for color picker, in the menu, as I stated above. Copy/pasted for your convenience: First you need to clear the existing hotkey: Go to Windows>Popups>Color Picker and hover over Color Picker. Then hit your Backspace key. This will clear the existing hotkey. Now hover over the tool you want to assign, in this case the Brush tool. Hit the END key, and now hit "B" to assign it to the brush tool. What version of 3D-Coat are you using? 2. What system are you using? Windows/Mac/Linux? 3. If you are using Windows vista, make sure running 3D-Coat as administrator. philnolan3d
Just to be clear, you should always be running 3DC as Admin anyway, you can set it to do this by right clicking the .exe file, picking Properties, and under the Compatibility tab check the box for "Run this program as an administrator". Javis
Hi Ian, sorry to hear this still persists. Can you uninstall 3DC, then clear out the 3DC configs in your user folder, then install 3DC again. Try using the newer build, 3.2.11. Javis
This definitely sounds like a config issue at this point. Hopefully clearing the configs helps.

Advanced Member polyxo Posted May 17, 2010 Advanced Member Report Share Posted May 17, 2010 Fwiw: I also have failed to reasign Hotkeys in quite a few occasions. It either works partially or doesn't really delete the old functionality or doesn't work at all. Just yesterday I wanted to reassign the Material/Mask Transforms to TAB+LMB, TAB+LMB, CTRL+TAB+LMB and CTRL+TAB+RMB. Doesn't work - well, it works somehow partially but in an illogical manner. Just try it yourself in a new Hotkey-Scheme! I also found that Hotkeys using the Asteriks-Key (near Escape-Key) do not work.

Javis
what file do i clear? I cant find any config files. If you're on Windows go to: C:\Users\**YOURUSERNAME**\Documents\3D-CoatV3 You should have an Options.xml file in there along with your license file and other such things. Delete Options.xml If you're on a mac, I can't help you there.
Member frerin Posted May 19, 2010 Author Member Report Share Posted May 19, 2010 Ok I seem to be able to delete them under paint, sculpt, voxel and render modes but under retopo and UV I cannot.

Member indigosm Posted November 17, 2010 Member Report Share Posted November 17, 2010 Strangely enough this now works... I assigned a second time inside a new session and it seems to do what it should.. . I'm running 3dcoat 3.5.00A(CUDA)(DX64) and I'm seeing the same problem. It's impossible for me to unbind B and have it stay unbound when I close/reopen the app. For example, if I remove the B hotkey, it will be removed but when i close and reopen the app, it will add that hotkey right back again to the XML file. This will be appended to the end of the file upon loadup of 3dcoat. This definitely needs to be fixed. <OneHotKey> <ID>PICKER</ID> <Code>B</Code> <Ctrl>false</Ctrl> <Alt>false</Alt> <Shift>false</Shift> </OneHotKey>
Member indigosm Posted November 17, 2010 Member Report Share Posted November 17, 2010 out of curiosity, does anyone know if these default hotkeys which get written to the XML upon closing of the app are stored in another file or they stored directly in the exe? I'd gladly nuke that other file if I could to get around this issue...
