Member kadu3d Posted December 14, 2007 Member Report Share Posted December 14, 2007 THE MOUSE WHEEL ON MY WACOM PEN !!! Sr. Andrew I just spent 2.500$ on a CINTIQ21UX!!! -- Please add support for changing radius, depth, focal shift, opacity, with the tablet pen ... The best would be similar to SILO's setup: middle-mouse moving up - change RADIUS middle-mouse moving sideways - change STRENGTH then you could also implement: right-mouse moving up - change FOCAL SHIFT right-mouse moving sideways - change TRANSPARENCY (this setup is not good for using with mouse but its excellent for a tablet pen) Even MODO's way could be nice: middle-mouse - STRENGTH right-mouse - RADIUS (with modifiers you could change the rest of the brush parameters) OR AT LIST: RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON TO OPEN THE PEN MENU (like "G" on the keyboard)!!! ALSO -- Some times I keep trimming out the pen parameters (radius, focal shift, depth...) for doing a thin wrinkle then you change the pen alpha, focal, radius... for doing something else (magnification or smoothing for example) then when you come back to the previous alpha (for the wrinkle) , all your parameters need to be readjusted... That's a pain in the end of the day! Your software biggest asset is the versatility (create brushes on the fly, copy paste, photoshop instant communication, fast & accurate openGL response,...) So suggestions: we should have the ability to store pen presets (ALPHA,radius, focal shift, depth...) just like Photoshop! OR AT LIST: THE ALPHA TO "REMEMBER" THE LAST USED PARAMETERS (radius, focal shift, depth...) The "CONTROL" modifier could also be more useful: ERASE in case you are painting just COLOR INVERT ALPHA in case you are painting SPECULARITY (or even erase -- make it optional ) AT LIST -- ad one parameter to the pen alpha -- INVERT MODE (just like MUDBOX); THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT FOR WORKING WITH SPECULARUTY!!! MAN I LOVE YOUR SOFTWARE, I PROMISE I WONT DO PORN WITH IT!! I wil be posting some good work soon...
Andrew Shpagin
I really want to optimize 3DB for usage with pen. But there is no complete sceme how to do it well. So, may be you can help me. It could be good if you will tel how is it better to manage all that things simultaneously: - change radius, depth, smooth degree, opacity, focal depth - navigate camera - move, rotate, scale materials rextures over screen (now RMB is used for that purpose) Do you use keyboard during painting? About pen shortcuts - good idea, will do that. Erase when painting, invert alpha during painting only specular - very good, also will do that! Member UnCommonGrafx Posted December 15, 2007 Member Report Share Posted December 15, 2007 I switched my eraser to be my middle mouse button. - Change radius = press r, show us a slider for radius and allow left/right movement to decrement/increment. Ditto for the others. - Navigate camera = Suggest switching the eraser to the middle mouse button - Lastly, keep it as it is as that's already set to an easy to reach clicker. Keystroke activations that work with the pen would be most welcomed. The keyboard shortcuts that you have now work great with a pen. Gestures would be about the only thing you could implement that would be any more useful than what you have. It's the middle mouse button that can be the (mental) conundrum for most of us as we don't use the eraser tip enough to recal that it's there and available to be switched. Or so I suffered. philnolan3d
Can't many of these thing be changed with the tablet software? I know I just bought an Intuos 3 yesterday to replace my old Intuos 1 that is no longer supported and I noticed you can set the stylus buttons (and tablet buttons) to do just about anything, even keystrokes.
