Member xrok1 Posted February 9, 2008 Member Report Share Posted February 9, 2008 here are a couple of ideas/concepts that would improve the workflow of 3DB. i hope you give them due consideration. 1. a few interface suggestions: as you can see the brush and texture settings have been changed to cover all tools and can be seen all the time. the way things are now the fill; fill layer; and pen tools all use different settings. with a new centralized design, all tools would use the same settings. also the strip tool has just became a checkbox because the icons could be added to the brush pallete and strip could be enabled or disabled. the icons in the top left would toggle symmetry, freezing ,& transparency, and should change appearance when active. the edit mode should apply to all tools pen... not just fill. this type of interface makeover would allow you to remove some tool options that currently overlap, such as colors in fill tool, this would make the interface simpler, cleaner, less confusing and more powerful. i hope at least one of my suggestions makes sense to you, and don't take this as complaints, just observations. if i could also add one feature request it would be to allow a checkbox in occlusion calc. (which should be called "occlusion baking") to use color or material for baking. this would allow baking of occlusion to represent grime or dirt with say a sandy material loaded instead of just darkening with shadows. anyway let me know if you find any of these ideas usefull. Andrew Shpagin
Thank you! There are many good ideas, but it seems pen preview in too big and I stil have not understood where should be strips selection.
Member xrok1 Posted February 9, 2008 Author Member Report Share Posted February 9, 2008 see checkbox bottom right of brush preview. the strip brushes would be inside the pen icons menu since the pen and strip seems to use same ones anyway. Andrew Shpagin
What means drop-lists "Object", "Material" and "Layer" ? The limitations for edit process? Should they be highlighted in some way?
Member xrok1 Posted February 19, 2008 Author Member Report Share Posted February 19, 2008 What means drop-lists "Object", "Material" and "Layer" ? The limitations for edit process? Should they be highlighted in some way? if you are asking why i would show the ("Object", "Material" and "Layer") in the top bar, instead of just in the fill tool, it is because i am suggesting that they could be used for any currently selected tool. example: pen tool used by "Object", "Material" and "Layer", sculpt by "Object", "Material" and "Layer", freeze by "Object", "Material" and "Layer" etc..... if this is not what you're asking, please explain your question more.
