Reputable Contributor digman Posted April 3, 2008 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted April 3, 2008 Hi all I found this paint program about a year ago but moved and had refomatted my harddrive. The name of the program is Artweaver. It's a good alternative to Photoshop and it's free. I again added it to my list of favorite programs. At the present time it supports psd files but not PSD layers. Andrew, I saw you have been to the forums at Artweaver.Do you have anydates from Boris Eyrich about when he is going to add Psd layer support? Anyway check out the program because once he adds PSD layer support there will be a free alternative to Photoshop. Here's a painting I did in it over a year ago but never quite finished due to moving. http://www.artweaver.de/index.php?en_version

Andrew Shpagin
I am using paint.net. It has layers, imports psd files. But it works not well with pen and semi-transparency. Artweaver is goo, my wife uses it but psd-import is still missed there...

Yes, i'd agree. IMHO Gimp is the one and only real freeware photoshop alternative.
