Member lewis2e Posted April 20, 2016 Member Report Share Posted April 20, 2016 Hi I am having problems starting 3D Coat under Linux (specifically Lubuntu 16.04 64bit if that makes a difference). I can start the application, but every bit of text is missing (images are present, no text whatsoever). This leaves the application unusable as menu items, dialogue boxes, panels etc. are all completely blank (unless you have the interface memorised with 100% accuracy! - which I do not). I note this in my log.txt file: - Loading font "Calibri 11"... Can't load file "Fonts/Calibri 11.cFont" - Loading font "Calibri 16"... Can't load file "Fonts/Calibri 16.cFont" - Loading font "Calibri B24"... Can't load file "Fonts/Calibri B24.cFont" - Loading font "Tahoma 8"... Can't load file "Fonts/Tahoma 8.cFont" - Loading font "Tahoma 8"... Can't load file "Fonts/Tahoma 8.cFont" - Loading font "Tahoma 8"... Can't load file "Fonts/Tahoma 8.cFont" - Loading font "Tahoma 8"... Can't load file "Fonts/Tahoma 8.cFont" - Loading font "Tahoma 8"... Can't load file "Fonts/Tahoma 8.cFont" - Loading font "Tahoma 8"... Can't load file "Fonts/Tahoma 8.cFont" - Loading font "Tahoma 8"... Can't load file "Fonts/Tahoma 8.cFont" - Loading font "Tahoma B8"... Can't load file "Fonts/Tahoma B8.cFont" - Loading font "Tahoma 8"... Can't load file "Fonts/Tahoma 8.cFont" Can't load image file "textures/WindowsStandard/ToolBar.bmp" - Loading font "Tahoma 8"... Can't load file "Fonts/Tahoma 8.cFont" - Loading font "Tahoma 8"... Can't load file "Fonts/Tahoma 8.cFont" Version : 3D-COAT 4.5.28(GL64) I can see there is a Fonts directory in the root of the 3D Coat installation directory, but there are no files with .cFont extension. The relevant files are there, but only in the form .bmp and .ff. I have tried renaming these files to .cFont but the log.txt file then documents that they cannot be loaded because they are an incorrect size. I have seen a reference to this problem on a different part of the forum where Andrew replied, but there was no resolution. Any advice? Many thanks Lewis

Solution SERGYI Posted April 22, 2016 Solution Report Share Posted April 22, 2016 I can start the application, but every bit of text is missing (images are present, no text whatsoever). This is because OpenGL on your system is using "Mesa" graphics driver provided by "VMware, Inc.". Is this virtual machine? 3D-Coat only supports proprietary graphics drivers. For example here is described how to install NVIDIA proprietary driver: http://pilgway.com/~sergyi/LinuxDocs/LinuxGraphicsDriver.pdf
