  1. 3dioot has clearly thought long and hard to come up with his opinions and I find them well thought out. I agree with some and not with others. Things get lost in translation, but in my humble opinion Mr 3dioot I wish for the sake of 3D Coat and it community that had spent more time on the tone and feeling you portrayed in your posts as they negative enough to provoke senseless terms such as fanboy getting thrown around which gets us no-where. 3dioot gave it a shot and contributed a lot of thought and deserves thanks and respect for that. That respect can just as easily be lost however. The comment above about the softwares roadmap is a very good one, from a business perspective.
  2. Yes I agree that whilst animation would be nice it would introduce too many other variables that could negatively impact our overall experience Is anyone else like me in that after a certain amount of time sculpting on object you start to think two or three moves ahead? I get a bit focused at times and can even animate in my head the next bit of sculpt
  3. Suggest you use reference images as background-style guide for proportions. Last suggestion would be to rethink the language used on the hand comment
  4. Heya, just in case you (or others) didn't know, within preferences you can set the amount of pressure-levels sensitivity to match your tablet (i.e. 512/1024) The default setting was lower than my tablet was capable of. Also in some tablet drivers you can set this sort of sensitivity settings. (Can in my Intuos 4)
  5. thanks for doing that, will check out once home as the office firewall blocks it.
  6. Sounds useful. Do you have time to post a quick screenshot of the resulting edge?
  7. Tinker that is just awesome. I can't wait to get home and try this out!
  8. Guys I'm losing the plot here - I can't find the actual update! To be fair on me I'm only two-sips into my morning coffee but still
  9. LOL @ Brisneyland. Heard of Brisvegas but not that. It fits nicely but I have a slight 'addicts' tendancy towards printing my sculpts, I just wanna do them all - which puts a slight strain on our house-build plans I'd love to build my own gargoyles for my new house but I suspect that won't go down to well with the missus
  10. Agreed! It takes ONE click to get an empty scene/room. Surely there are higher priorities than this?
  11. Same here. I actually only have one-arm and have never had an issue with my mouse or tablet use within 3dCoat. Any problems with modifier keys needing pressed are solved with Stickeys or tablet macro settings. I remember a distinct realisation on Tuesday nights scribbling of noticing the tablet pen and 3d coat felt like an extension of my arm. It's probably hard for you two-handers to know I mean but it was nice.
  12. Agreed, the manual is gorgeous with a clever UI itself, love the strip along the bottom telling us where we are. Yay!
  13. Hi there, when in voxel-mode you can extract-skin by right-clicking the Voxtree in lower-right corner menu. You might be interested in my thread showing a .stl model printed out by Shapeways. It actually arrived today! http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?sho...amp;#entry27371 Anyway good luck
  14. They arrived, check out pic's :- http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?sho...amp;#entry27371
  15. They arrived :clapping: A few breaks in the thinner regions but overall they look great.
  16. Hey Eric, I've posted two images in my original post above, maybe they were blocked for some reason. The image where it shows object in white is how Shapeways 'sees' it. The next image I'll post to this thread will be photo's of how it looks printed.
  17. Feature request: Mini window showing last user command or feature selected. Feature benefit: 1.multitasking and returning to program this would answer the "what did I just do?" question. 2. could highlight if incorrect command was selected 3. if feature was unavailable, or unable to be completed the window text could turn bold as an added benefit 4. For tutorial recording it could help onscreen guide as to what was just selected. I am away from 3dC at the moment so if this already exists I'd feel a bit silly Feature disadvantages: 1. screen real-estate impact minimal 2. ???
  18. Yeah it does offer that. Haven't looked into the royalty/selling side yet. I started a Gallery WIP thread today just to document my first Shapeways test-print. It could take 3-4weeks before it arrives from printing in the USA to posting to Australia, but I'm still very excited by this!
  19. Hi all, after a bit of experimenting yesterday I got my voxel model accepted by Shapeways (a firm that offers 3d printing services) I just wanted to document the progress of the model-to-sculpture so here is the model (rendered instead as glass) and then as how Shapeways see's this. It is costing me only $8 USD for one model printed out at a small height if 5cm. For the record, Shapeways has a $25 min order requirement. All costs quoted include shipping!!
  20. Memory was always an issue on my laptop with 2gb, my desktop with 8gb hasn't suffered. Are you using software to create the 'shape' ? I thought your site had some great images. Some reminded me of the fractal softwae Apophysis
  21. Hey GED - just click load a new material, right click the colour palette icon to turn off the 'tint colour' and then you ar directly painting with your photo. (I have a feeling you already knew this but!)
  22. Very interesting stuff. Would the extract skin feature be useful here?
  23. Ooo I'd love to be in her shoes, I think the site said she made a quarter million dollars in a year. Woah. For the record I'm more impressed by her talent than the $$$ being made. There has to be market out there for 3d printing products. I've been thinking a little about it and came up with custom-dogtags, charm-braceletts + charms Still I think I'd gain more from just enjoying seeing my sculptures in real-life, so try not to think too hard about making money from it.
  24. There are no posts in the official Kurv forum so I think it's only natural for people to post here. I hope some lessons are learnt from the problems others have had with this DVD release. Still a mammoth effort to produce such a lengthy release in a short period of time! I personally won't be buying it because of the length, but I'm quite sure it will prove its worth to others.
