  1. These are all fantastic! Keep up the great work!
  2. I personally think that if we go with the weeklong challenges, there shouldn't be a limited number of hours, instead, let the person choose how they want to spend their time, do they want to hash out multiple short sculpts, or do they want to spend all of their time on one sculpt. Also, coming from personal experience, I'm getting better with 3d-Coat, but I don't know if I have the skill to do any sort of sculpt in an hour or less, and I'm sure other new users who aren't professionals might feel the same way, or even like Malo said, he likes to put his time into it.
  3. I also like the idea of a short weekend challenge, we could have more of them more often as well!
  4. Ahhh that makes more sense now, thanks for explaining! I see what you mean, especially for hard surface models where there might be 30-40+ uv islands, going through each one could definitely lead to user error plus a general pain to deal with
  5. I'm not entirely sure if you've said this or not, but why not just bake the object down like normal in 3d-coat, uncheck bake ao and then just use the full tool in the uv editor in the paint room to fill each island with a specific color, then all you have to do is export the diffuse map and normal map That's how I do it anyways and it's extremely fast and efficient
  6. I personally think about two months would be good, but please take other's opinions over my own as I can probably be the most flexible as I am still in school and do not have all the responsibilities of you all! Seeing as I'm only 17 years old, I don't even have my "job" (school) for an entire 2 and 1/2 months which is certainly not the real world that many of the others on this amazing forum live in haha.
  7. I personally have not experienced any problems with it since Andrew touched it up, but seeing as its been so finicky, I would wait for more responses than just mine
  8. I know I posted about the messed up layer blend mode selection a while back, but I finally got around to making a formal request on Mantis as it is extremely frustrating. Please test it out for me in case it's just my computer, but I'm pretty sure it's not. Here's the link to the post in case you're looking for it, http://3d-coat.com/mantis/view.php?id=1508
  9. Thanks Andrew!! Hope you have an awesome trip! You deserve it after all the hard work you've been putting into this program
  10. I would love to participate in more of these challenges but I have simply not had the skill, nor, due to exam schedule, any time Whatever this next one is I should finally be able to follow through, I know I've not been very good about that but I'm finally feeling like I have the skill-set necessary to at least complete the challenge Also, in regards to changes, it's really hard to find this if no one is looking for it, maybe if there could be an advertisement on the front page of 3d-coat's website? Who knows, it might even bring more attention to 3d-coat if people saw there was an active community who created amazing works, such as you guys!
  11. This looks absolutely amazing!! Keep up the great work, can't wait to use this tool
  12. I have another paint room bug to report that I would love if somebody would test If I select subtract from the layer blend mode dialogue, and then I come back at a later time and attempt to change the layer blend mode, it automatically selects whatever mode my mouse happens to be over and closes the selection menu This only seems to happen with the lower blend modes
  13. This is what I would do, first, find a good reference image that looks pretty much exactly like what you want, check to make sure it has a suitable license for what you need (I personally recommend cgtextures.com ) and then take that image into gimp or photoshop, whichever you use, apply a desaturation to the image, then adjust the brightness/contrast to essentially make a bump map, import this image into the masks section in 3d-coat and either sculpt that detail in using the draw tool in combination with the mask or paint it using normal mode in the paint room. Hope that helps!
  14. I apologize for the slow responses but I'm right in the middle of testing season, woohoo :P Thankfully one of my classes is advanced game art design so I've been trying to make excuses for me to use 3d-Coat! Here is the latest sculpt I've done for a 3d fighting game that I'm making in that class, any critiques are welcome! Thanks to all who have replied, Tony and Garagarape, and thanks Carlosan for the continued support!
  15. Is there any place we can see this to-do list so we don't keep accidentally bringing up things that are on there, or is it more effective that we do so anyways because that shows our interest in that feature?
  16. I too am really glad to hear it might finally be getting updated, I love the way that it allows you to model things quickly and efficiently, even better than 3ds Max for the most part, except for those few areas that need updating haha. As for intuitive programs, I would honestly have to say blender as to me, any program where e is extrude, r is rotate, s is scale, etc... is going to be quite intuitive. Other than that in terms of intuitiveness I think you guys have nailed it.
  17. That's fantastic! Welcome to 3d-Coat! I can't wait to see what you come up with
  18. That really does help me quite a lot! So if I can understand you right, you would have added the arms, legs, head, and other such objects before doing the creases that I did or the bands at the bottom? I had never thought about how that might affect my workflow till now haha, but that makes so much sense !
