  1. Hey Guys! I am backing an interesting project on Kickstarter at the moment. (I am getting a little addicted) ;-) The project in question is a device called the Cmoar: a VR AR Headset which uses an Android phone to work. (Yeah I hear ya - there are loads of these out there already, Google Cardboard, Vrase, Opendive, etc) The difference here is that this device doesn't only do AR and VR with Side By Side displayed images, it also has a 2D lens (part of a set of interchangeable lenses offering VR and AR) which gives the wearer the feeling of viewing their content on a massive 125" screen. It can also be linked to a PC or console for 60fps streaming of content (provided you have an Nvidia GTX card) which means you could potentially model, design & sculpt on a giant screen! Everything around you is blacked out which completely immerses you in your work. Anyway, I thought this might be of interest to some other designers, sculptors, architects, game developers and modelers out there as I think Cmoar could have great potential - (and I really want one!) The product can be had for just £60 GBP / $100 USD. They only have 8 days to go and they are currently at £24,000 of their £60,000 goal. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/706938033/cmoar-personal-smartphone-viewer
  2. It looks like there are some massive improvements coming to Fuse and it may be worth reconsidering. 1.1 was a definite improvement and 1.2 looks like it will add more customization and address a load of other issues. I brought a Fuse exported obj into 3D Coat for texturing / normal detail work and it worked really well.
  3. Well done Allexr! There were some great entries in this challenge but you also got my vote for your unique concept and skillful execution.
  4. That is fantastic Allexr! So much detail and a very unique concept. Well done!
  5. I always 'want' to participate but time always seems to be an issue as there are also so many other things I want to do. Running two businesses, having a wife and two young sons means the only real time I have for personal / fun / diversions is from around 8pm in the evening onwards. I was surprised at the falling numbers too but I think it is also that people are in similar situations. The theme doesn't matter too much as it is all good practice but I am more inclined to partake in organic / anatomy / monster / alien challenges cause they are the most fun.
  6. Thank you guys. I only just saw this. I will try much harder next time ;-)
  7. FINAL - Late (it is 8:52 am here) but I am calling it done even though she requires a lot more work. Good luck to the guys that made the deadline.
  8. Drat! Missed another one by a whisker! Pesky migraine!
  9. Thanks Javis. Haha, Sharkat looks cool and very mischievous.
  10. The result of my sculpting session this evening. Did anyone catch the stream? Do we have until midnight tonight?
  11. Woah this is weird. Anyone watching?
  12. Hi Guys, Just setting up my twitch tv stream: http://www.twitch.tv/mrmdesign I should be sculpting and streaming very soon.
  13. I am on this tonight! I will not miss another deadline! ;-) I am starting from scratch with a new concept (spider woman / thing) and may do a screencast (or record my sculpt).
  14. I bought a Lenovo Y580 HD version to use as my portable 3D machine. It has a GTX 660 and an i7 processor and works really well with 3D Coat. It also boots up amazingly fast. It also handles games well and I get good performance from Unreal Engine 4 with it too. The only downside is the battery life. I have to keep it connected to the mains at all times.
  15. I am going to revisit an old idea; The Braindeer : A festive Christmas beast made out of a Turkey and a Reindeer.
  16. Very well done! This thread makes very interesting reading and I can imagine how frustrated you must have got at many points in the process. You stuck with it though and came through with an amazingly accurate reproduction that really improves on the original. I also can't wait to see some action poses and facial expressions. Although facial rigging can be a complete bitch.
  17. Excellent work! As a massive fan of the Legacy of Kain / Soul Raver games this is like candy for my eyes. You have done an amazing job!
  18. Hi guys, Here is the result of a little bit of messing around last night with my Fuel 3D face scan from the 3D Print show in London. I have previously only worked in Voxel mode but last night I saw the true value of surface mode! Having areas of higher polygon density just where you need them is amazing and the sculpting speed is mind blowing. I used the default 3D Coat head as a starting point and merged the face scan to it then blended. My Fuel 3D Scanner comes next month. So excited! p.s. I have also attached the face scan so you can see what I had to work with and the quality that the Fuel 3D produces. I am redoing the eye area as I am going to add eyes, eyelashes, hair and bits as separate objects.
  19. Thanks Steve, Very useful. I have 3d printed through Shapeways and other companies but I get my very own 3D Printer (the Zeepro Zim) in early June and am looking forward to starting my adventure. I am sure I will run in to a few obstacles but it is good to have a 'heads up' on what to look for.
  20. It's good to hear they are OK. It is definitely not looking good there at the moment. It looks as though the temporary truce has been broken according to the BBC. I really hope they can put an end to the violence soon. Best wishes to all the Pilgway staff and their families.
