  1. Thanks @Carlosan! The non-smoothed normals turned out to be a shader setting. It works now. Brush lock was indeed what I was searching for regarding the (non-)dynamic brush size, thanks. Where can I find BloqNum? Do you mean keyboard NumLock or a 3DC option? I'll check out the new brush engine. A few more questions: 5. What would be the 3DC procedure comparable to multiresolution sculpting in ZBrush and Blender (retopo, then subdivide and sculpt on different polygon subdivision levels) ? 6. Is there a 3DC equivalent to ZBrush's Insert (Multi) Mesh brushes? 7. I'd like to upgrade my 3DC 4.x license, but when I bought it, I was using macOS. Right now I'm using Windows, but expect to return to macOS in a few months. Will I be able to switch between OS versions without issues or extra expenses? Thanks!
  2. Thanks, but in Blender the numeric keys work fine on the same system, only in 3DC none of the keys seem to work here.
  3. Hi, I own 3D-Coat 4.9 and I've worked with it in the past, but have been using ZBrush and Blender the past few years. The recent take-over of Pixologic by Maxon seems like the perfect moment to rediscover 3D-Coat. I've installed the latest 2021 version, and I get more and more enthusiastic as I go. As I've been away from 3DC for years now, I'm refreshing my memory. Some questions: 1. Is there an equivalent to ZBrush's Repeat Last stroke ('1' key) ? I used that a lot in ZB to repeat the exact same stroke a few times when desired. 2. I couldn't get the numeric keypad keys to work in 3DC (5 to toggle perspective / orthographic, etc.). What could the cause be for that? The numpad keys work fine in Blender on the same system. ─ What's even weirder is that some numpad, like the + and - key, do work in 3DC. 3. What would be the 3DC procedure comparable to multiresolution sculpting in ZBrush and Blender (retopo, then subdivide and sculpt on different polygon subdivision levels) ? 4. Is there a 3DC equivalent to ZBrush's Insert (Multi) Mesh brushes? 5. What do I need to do to save the QuickAccess menu with my favorites (to port it to a new 3DC installation in the future) ? Is the menu saved along with the Hotkeys? 6. Is the old Angulator tool still present in the latest 3DC versions, or is there a new way of sharpening or beveling edges? 7. I'd like to upgrade my 3DC 4.x license, but when I bought it, I was using macOS. Right now I'm using Windows, but expect to return to macOS in a few months. Will I be able to switch between OS versions without issues or extra expenses? Many thanks!
  4. Thanks. I've tried Low-Poly, but the normals on my model remain smoothed. In Blender it's called Shade Flat:
  5. Thanks! Are the brush presets still compatible with the new set of brushes in 3DC 2021? Also, off-topic, but is there a way to toggle the viewport from smooth shading to faceted shading (clear polygons, without normals smoothing) ?
  6. I've installed the latest 2021 version, and don't have the version I own installed. I believe that was 4.9. I assume the Migration Master works to move assets from an old version?
  7. I'm also missing the old presets in the latest version. A download with a preset pack would be great.
  8. I've got the same issue here, on Windows 10. When using Blender, the numpad keys work fine, so NumLock is not the culprit. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
  9. Thanks, but at the end of that thread, @mifth states that he hasn't updated his fork lately, and points to the regular version. I'll check that out.
  10. Does the 3D-Coat applink work fine on macOS as well?
  11. Love it! Did you do the hair and rendering in 3D-Coat as well?
  12. I've written a blog post about 'Maxologic', mentioning 3D-Coat as an alternative.

    Forgiveness.

    Really cool work!
  14. I agree. Radeon ProRender is a fast renderer that is actively developed, and works great with AMD cards on a Mac. I'm very satisfied using it in Blender.
  15. Hi, I recently installed the latest 3D-Coat for macOS (4.8.26), and noticed the following: I start 3D-Coat and choose auto-retopology, then after the window with the initial settings I press S and check x symmetry. Subsequently I press Next in the following requesters, because I want to skip the density painting and guide drawing. Finally, nothing happens. I just see the imported mesh, without Autopo. So I need to right-click on the imported mesh layer and reinitialize Autopo to make it work. Is this a bug or is there a specific moment you need to activate symmetry? A symmetry option in the initial Autopo options would be more convenient. Thanks.
  16. Thanks @Carlosan. 1.7 is the update that was released a month ago. For a moment I thought there was a brand new version. I'm eagerly awaiting a version that supports vertex paint. Until then you're stuck with UV-mapped texturing.
  17. Cool! Too bad I can't use it, because I'm on macOS. But maybe @Andrew Shpagin is already implementing it for the next 3D-Coat update.
  18. Thanks @Makketronics. In my case I'd need a macOS Terminal command, but it's a good initiative that you're trying to make it accessible for Windows users.
  19. My pleasure, @Andrew Shpagin. It'd be great if Quadriflow could be added to 3D-Coat. Thanks!
  20. Hi, For some reason I can't seem to start a new topic in the Feature Requests section, so I thought to post this here: The new Quadriflow auto-retopology algorithm looks very promising. It includes an option for sharp edges as well. It would be fabulous if Instant Meshes could be upgraded to Quadriflow in 3D-Coat. Quadriflow has much less singularities and triangle dead-ends than Instant Meshes, and better support for sharp edges. Many thanks in advance!
  21. Cool. I requested the Ambient Occlusion at the ProRender development forum, and they implemented it.
  22. Hi, I'm pleased to announce that I reinitiated a former activity of mine — training people to learn or improve a visual skill, 2D and/or 3D. 3D-Coat is one of the 3D editors I'm using in my workshops. A training takes place in the Netherlands, in my studio or on location, so it will be mostly interesting for Dutch and Flemish people. More info can be found on my site: metinseven.com Regards, — Metin
