Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted March 31, 2014 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 with the new release i want to do a clean install of 4.1 can anyone tell me how do i clear all my old settings? And what i have to delete and where? I just plan to install it over the other 4.0.x builds, but if you want to clear everything, then you can go to the MyDocs/3D Coat directory > select all the individual files (not the folders) except the license file. Delete all those (might just try to move them to a tempory folder, just in case you want to restore them for any reason). Install 4.1 and you should be good to go. If you have any UI layouts or keyboard layouts you want to save, make sure to do so beforehand. That way you can restore those afterwards. It's always good to store those. Keyboard shortcuts can be saved and loaded from the EDIT menu and UI layouts/schemes from the WINDOWS > SAVE WORKSPACE. You might also want to save any presets you have created, in a preset file (from the drop list toggle in the upper right corner of the Presets Panel)

Advanced Member Aleksey Posted April 2, 2014 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted April 2, 2014 Hi, I can't figure out how to copy polygons in retopo room.. i remember in some tutorial seeing that they can put polygins into the models tab, but can't find how to do that either. Why can't we copy retopo groups btw? that would be super useful.
Advanced Member Aleksey Posted April 2, 2014 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted April 2, 2014 ok so did through, exporting an obj and selection and then re-importing it through the obj panel. there has to be a better way to copy and move some polygons... Reputable Contributor digman Posted April 2, 2014 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) At the bottom of the Groups panel are the tools you need. (Icons) Have your tool tips turn on so you read can the descriptions for each tool. Select your faces (polygons) you want to move manually or use the "Select all faces on this Layer tool" Create a new Retopo group layer. It is selected by default after it is created. Use the "Move the selected selected faces to current layer tool" Done... Now if you want just a copy of the faces use the clone tool (left side tool bar) It is shown when faces are selected in the top menu. Select your faces. Use the clone tool. Press the enter key. Select no to the snapping question. A new retopo group layer will be created with the copy (clone) of the faces...
