How to do this?

Hi guys

I have downloaded the demo but I am a bit unsure on how to proceed.

Maybe if I describe what I am trying to accomplish, then someone could suggest a workflow for me to try?

So, I want to make a brick wall texture for use in game engines.

This texture should consist of an initial object which will be the mortar, and other objects which will be bricks, I then want to generate texture and normal maps from my completed model.

These will then be tiled on other objects in the game engine.

Thank You.

Hmmm, no replies.

Ok, if you watch this series of videos in ZBrush, its exactly what I want to accomplish in 3D Coat.

But as I said, i,m new to 3d coat and cant even seem to import a plane, it just dissappears, so workflow suggestions would be helpfull.

Thanks

I have no idea if it is possible in an easy way. I have never tested it.

There is no tileable voxel object that helps you. You have to do it manualy.

Maybe this could works, i havent test it.

Create your bricks and wall and stuff.

Then go to retopo room and import a simple plane to bake the wall into it.

The hard thing is to ge tit tileable. You have to switch between Retopo Room and Voxel Room and adjust the wall until it is tileable.

But maybe some other member could helps you better or the forum search as i could do.

This is one where I would start with a different program, such as 3ds Max or Cheetah.  This isn't to say it can't be done in 3D Coat, but I find it easier to line up a tileable texture setup with blocks that way.  Having said that, once that's done, you can sculpt each brick a bit differently, to give it variation.  If you've laid out your pattern correctly...say in a 256x256 grid, then you'll be able to tile your resulting texture maps.  I've done this, but it's a super long process.  You're likely better off just using something like PixPlant, CrazyBump, and/or Filter Forge to make a such a texture.
