Hello to everybody in this forum.

I started working with 3D Coat several weeks before and im about to subscribe soon.. (if it will be useful to my actual project).

So ,what im about to do?

I have made some pictures of a saint on a marble plate crafted by a stonemason. Now he asked me to bring the figure on his CNC Machine for let it do the work.. So the machine takes *BMP files to generate a G-Code for the work on the marble plate.

So what I did is:

I took some photos by smartphone and let it convert to  a 3d model by agisoft Metashape:

Now i gonna import this to 3D coat.

The workaround I think would be best for it:

1. Take photos of the model:

2. Convert to a 3D model in Agisoft

 3. Import into 3D Coat

 4. Remove superfluous points and geometries

 5. Insert Refeference Plane with one made foto

6. Create a plane to work on it

 7. With Stroke/Curve in the Retopo area, insert height on the 3D scanned referenc

8.Sculpt model with needed deails

9.Render picture by Y-View

10, Convert in Photoshop to proper *.BMP file

I tried different ways now to get there with 3D Coat. I need some help to get a better workflow.

  1. Wich windows panel do I need in the Retopo Room? (Cant find that retopo model, Voxeltree)
  2. Wich windows panel do I need in the Sculpt Room? (There are tutorial videos that contains panl may not exists?
  3. I have difficulties to align Vertexes/Voxels to a View/plane/axis. Is there a way to do so?

So I am not new to 3D at all, but 3D Coat is a completion for it self. The usability is hard to oversee on three different types of models and i miss a proper documentation making it hard for me keep going on.

So, please. Need a hand for resolving that issues.

Thanks allot

Thomas

theres plenty of documentation

i was like yourself...
ive only ever used zbrush for sculpting and when i started using 3dcoat ... i honestly had no idea how to navigate...

why is the mesh showing in retoporoom but not in paint etc etc...

first start with basic youtube tutorials... guys at 3dcoat have made some great tutorials to get you started , literally start at the bottom... dont go half way in thinking yea but i know all this,

just learn the basics and before you know it you will be flying through it and apart from missing alot of great tools.. i enjoy using 3dcoat over zbrush all day long

yeah, I found masses of tuts. And this is the problem. Many of them are 9, 10 or more years old found on youtube. Even at the offical channel of 3D coat (and honstly, there are not the best didactic uploaders in quality and quantity). I have to pick from here and there, or have to pay for a course?  I started with 3Ds Max and Z-Brush in 2009, got thought by a professional at graphic school. This here is miles away from learning a App.

Ill get started now with the tuts Carlosan send and mark it as resolution for now.

Have a nice day and thanks for your respond.

its because sculpting etc isn't really used in 3dcoat.. its not that popular amongst the artist community,

if you're searching for searching for 3dcoat painting there are very recent ones but in terms of other things like modelling or sculpting its not popular

...

but keep trying... try a few step by step tutorials and you will get the hang of it
