Yes...you just have to import the mesh into the Retopo room and get started. The only thing that requires a voxel model is Autopo.
philnolan3d
You can use File > Import > Reference Mesh or Big Mesh, or even just import it as if you were going to paint it. I did this for a job where I had to retopo the clothing for 13 characters.

How do you guys deal with imported mesh that is not the same location as the original mesh from host app like lightwave, 3dmax? Everytime I retopo and export from 3dc I have to move objects in host app. Can someone check the scene if it imports ind 3dc in original location? autoretopo2.zip
philnolan3d
I haven't had that trouble. With LightWave the object always seems to be in the correct location for me.
Advanced Member geo_n Posted April 15, 2011 Advanced Member Report Share Posted April 15, 2011 Did you import the zip file? Importing that lwo object in 3dcoat for me the rectangle object is not rested on the ground plane. It sunk and it seems 3dcoat is trying to import the lwo file but centering based on both objects world center.
philnolan3d
Sorry I'm stuck on my laptop now (desktop monitor died), so it's not a very comfortable environment for testing.

Have you had time to test the issue or Andrew aware of this?
philnolan3d
I see now the sphere shape is below the grid in 3DC, while in LW the grid passes through it's middle.

If you export it from 3dc to lw the mesh is not the same location. Really a pain to reposition again and again in host app.
