  2. voxtree is restored on ALL my .3b files,thanx for quick fixing a little feature suggestion screen based symmetry on x for mask/material distort with pen a little bug that is still alive "cube mapping" is still "from camera"

  4. The problem is not that he thinks your opinion is not justified. ( I don't understand why you are saying this,you know he takes everything you say as valid opinion), The problem is that you are not patient. It seams days to you are like weeks. Go back in time make a list of features you wanted in 3DCoat and look how much have been done already. Brushes will improve it is obvious there is no real value to state such bold things as "if ever". You know brushes will improve why are you saying that? Not so long ago scrape wasn't even a usable brush,there was no voxtree.,no fov,interface was all changed.. I know competion is fierce but there a lot MORE things 3DCoat can do than ZB and Mudbox. The list is long... if any of the followings doesn't count as major selling points it is probably because you never did anything in ZB other than playing with the brushes...(yes there is alot more to zb than the brushes) -You loose symmetry plane on subtools as soon as you rotate them -you cannot resym models based from spheres -you can use only quads -retopo sucks -you cannot copy parts of mesh (zproject brush is far less powerful than copy brush) -you cannot do booleans (it is as important a sculpting tool as the brushes) -all texture based shaders are based on the canvas (2d) and aren't wrapped around the model at all. -Texture work is ten years behind 3DCoat and you can"t even do uvs... and so on...

  10. Alright I'm uploading file with sendspace(200mb) ,it says it should take around 45minutes so I'll send download link to support@3d-coat.com when it is finished. It is an armored dwarf In beta C all parts are there In beta D,E,F,G objects are missing (you will notice missing objects easily)
  11. Ok not so bad finally,it happens only when I switch directly to voxel room without loading a .3b. (3DC run as admin)
  12. Distort with pens works great! but undos in voxel mode makes 3DCoat freeze on my side(undos in general ,not just when I activate material/mask). also missing voxtrree objects bug is still there, do you want me to upload a file (they are all pretty big)
  13. I would suggest sitting down with a warm cup of coffee (or tea) and read V3 new manual. It should take around an hour and you will much more comfortable after with interface , and general workflows for painting and voxel operations. I found it a very clear and interesting reading just like zbrush manual.

    Ouch!!...Now that's what I call a hammer! Very well done,should be in gallery I think. only critic:....maybe pinch the wings a little and you're done. (pinching will smooth the wings imperfections at the same time)
  15. I'm very excited about new tweakable material feature Andrew is cooking up (check his twitter) It is gonna be a big add-on to present 3DCoat texturing power!! Users we be able to adjust 3D.sk photos(for example) to underlying mesh ,very good feature.
  16. First ,if I were you I would switch to a x64 windows. Then I would add at least 1gb of ram.(cheap and easy) Because even if you buy Zbrush,with a 32bit os and 3gb ram you won't be able to go above 12mil-14-mil (per subtool) (which means you will need to chop your Windrunner in parts in order to reach a high level of details) that is of course,if you don't use HD geometry ,that would allow you to reach 50mil polys with your current system (but HDgeo is only good for illustration work,you cannot get a displacement map from it so you cannot use it for animation in external package)

  18. both zb and mb works as example3, I can understand how wanting it to behave like example2 is requested :it would induce less stretching on the sides so it is good. Personnaly, as a zb user the thing i like the most about pinch brush is they got something called the "brushmod slider" ,this slider allows you to mix 2 brush behaviours together.In Zb when you plays with the Pinch brush "brushmod slider" it allows you to pinch while carving in and out, it blends "pinch brush" with "standard brush".It is a very powerful feature of Zb's pinch brush.You can do wrinkles and clothings folds with it. The workaround in 3DCoat I use to get this effect is extrude brush with pen number4. But really,present 3dc voxel pinch behave much like zb and mb(example3) if we don't take in account zb brushmod setting.
  19. I can't all my files are above 100mb.... I tried resaving files using beta C and reopened them using beta D and it was different object in the voxtree that were invisible. So it means it is pretty random. Don't you have a file with big voxtree on your computer ? Like a Tree321 sculpt? Also,Gl version crash on start up each time (bugreport sent)
  20. Andrew,I can't use beta D here, I get random(?) empty objects in the voxtree from my previous save files. I tried reinstalling beta C and everything works fine,so it is a new problem specific to this release. (saving and reloading the .3b file doesnt fix the problem).

Use technique with Cloth function,it does exactly ALL you're asking, -(In retopo room) create the vest or armor piece with your favorite retopo method press subdivide a couple of time -Go back to voxel room and select cloth function select "pick from retopo" -Set a thickness value and press ENTER (if you set a negative value it will still make an extrusion but if you hold Ctrl while pressing Enter you will get a substraction instead) Shazam
  23. Wow,you're really trying different things. They are very good experiments. I'm pretty sure we'll soon see alot more environment work in the future. It has huge potential.
  24. New surface smooth is really a sculpting tool in itself,like a sort of microscrape. The more I use it the more I find uses to it. . Thanx for implementing this, it is a very welcomed addition.Especialy for hardsurface work. EDIT: also,I think I found out how you could make voxel based multiresolution.It is very funny. The principle is based on the idea that going into a lower resolution would only be used as a simulation to record brush actions and that would after be reproduced to the hires voxel level through an operation without display onscreen . example: let's say I have a voxel sphere hitting 60000 polys ,I sculpt a little then...I increase resolution using actual "increase res" function to make some finner details .Now I'm at level 2(let's call it level2) and I make some finer details.I do my thing,I'm happy then...I decide to go back to previous level to use the MOVE brush with a big radius and all. Here is how it works: As soon as I press the degrade button 3DCoat make an usual degrade function (But it automatically save the file to a temp .3b file before). At this point when the user is now working on the degraded model ,3DCoat automatically starts recording the camera moves and the brush strokes.The user make changes with the move brush and when he's done and press the "increase res" button again,3DCoat close the file,reopen the temp .3b and replays all the brushes actions on the higher resolution model.Of course the replays of the brushes actions are done without display on screen ,as an invisible process.Of course this operation will create a delay ,but there is also a delay when you skip resolutions in ZB.And since no display on screen is involved you can probably make this a fast operation.At least, I think .Anyway,I hope it dont sound too stupid,it was very funny to think of.
  25. Would it be possible for you to create a new "surface Fill" brush with much more cavity detection? (that would be able to fill large holes for example) also,now that 3DCoat generates very good looking normal maps from voxel-to DP the only missing element is occlusion from voxel-to dp.That would be very complete. ( I posted about that somewhere else,sorry to be redundant ) also I noticed that hardness option in voxel curves is fixed,I don't know when you fixed it (maybe you didn't) but it now works without twisting the curve on itself. Now about branching it would be great that when user select a point to start a new branch the drawing of the curve keep working from the NEXT POINT and so on,right now it always start back at the FIRST POINT selected for branching. It is keeping voxel curves drawing from half of it's potential. Thanx
