  1. great start, Ratchet. bet he'lll look fantastic after you get him colored/textured
  2. hi Michele,..awesome character !....very intricate detailing...looking forward to seeing more from you
  3. did you ever get the blacksmith stump exported ? and are you still having trouble merging ?
  4. that's looking good.....Yearoftheox, that's my understanding, too, that quadrangulating is mainly neccassary only if animating or subdividing. you don't think you'lll subdivide at some point ? either way, look forward to seeing it progress
  5. thanks, Tony, Digman, Calabi... Tony ;thanks n yea, I was thinking the same thing about it resembling a fox, so I'll be working towards giving it more of a 'wolfy' structure. Digman ; thanks, I had to take a break from my other sculpts, but I'll be working on them in between this one. Calabi ; thanks..as for the amount of detail, I was experimenting on his hair/skin with some of my new alpha brushes, (got a little carried away, lol) finally decided on using the spike tool for its hair, tho....as for the eyes/snout, I was just roughing the sculpt out, so I haven't started finetuning or detailing its eyes yet,,but I'm sure the eyes will thin out n not be as wide when I do start detailing them,, but I'll probably add more width to the snout, as it seems to make it look like a fox at this point. thanks again for all your feedback
  6. still a long ways to go...stil gotta add about a zillion hairs, lol...and work on his structure and detail alot more, but here it is for now. (comments/feedback welcome) the ears look rather large right now, but after I add the hairs and rework them, they will look much smaller.,
  7. I bet the inverted 'increase' tool would be great for seperating cylinderhead's fingers ?...great job on the blacksmith sculpt
  8. ok thanks for all your input, Tony, digman, Yearoftheox...I started this sculpt out with rather large proportions cause I read several instances in the forum stating that in most cases, it's best to 'over-sculpt', or make the sculpt larger because increasing res and other actions can thin the sculpt..but I appreciate the feedback I've been receiving, especially in respect to placement of facial parts, etc.....it's helping alot. . .Yearoftheox, I'm curious about the frontal width..if one changed the side width as you did here, , would the frontal width need to be altered in the same amount as the side?..if so, would you mind posting a frontal view depicting how you would alter it ?..
  9. hi, Phil...this is the link Andrew posted at the front of this thread,,I downloaded from this link the other day n it seems to work fine www.3d-coat.com/files/3d-Coat-2-trees.exe
  10. ok, thanks Tony..I took into account the suggestions that you and digman made, and worked on it again...here are my results....I made the eyes smaller and I did raise the head, but personally i think it looks like I've raised the head too much when looking at it from the side view, ..I think i need to lower the head at the back top section at least..but lmk what you think about that or anything else I still need to work on. (i also threw in a pic with the eyelids on seperate layers, but as said, they just don't look right (eyelid tut, plse ) here's the original, so you won't have to scroll up page to compare) added eyelids on seperate layers (as mentioned, could use a 'eyelids' tutorial.)
  11. which tool did you use for the flames/hair ?
  12. thanks, digman...so if I lower the eyes, then will I also need to lower the ears ? (or at least lower the tops of the ears ?
  13. just another study on anatomy...as you can see by my layers pallette, I tried putting the eyelids on seperate layers.. .just didn't look right. ..(could use a tutorial on that subject)....does the cheek area look too flat from the side view ? the eyes seem to be positioned right in the frontal view, but in the side view do they look like they need to be raised up ?, and also do they need to be sunk in more (wonder if that's why the cheeks look flat from the side ?..maybe sinking the eyes in more would make the cheeks less flat-looking ?...).....critiques/comments/feedback welcome...
  14. ha, I learned my lesson on the pivot point (I'm assuming you're referring to the symmetry) when I sculpted a model without fixing the pivot point first thing, then after spending hours upon hours detailing, found it to be a lost battle trying to reset the pivot via split/clone/apply symmetry.....so I'm stuck without symmetry on finishing it....but now I always check my symmetry/correct pivot point before anything else....cause some tricks don't work so well when you don't have enough ram. I'm getting better at using layers., especially after wasting hours chasin my tail in circles trying to fix parts that just keep blobbing into each other...I found that it makes things go alot quicker to just seperate certain parts into layers. and I'm really bad about not using reference pics, and wanting to add detail before I get my form/structure up to par.but again with the 'chasin my tail in circles' scenario, it's easier to just use the reference pics as needed and work on my form first before adding too much detail.
  15. looks good...which alpha brush did you use for his skin texture ? look forward to a displacement tutorial on this.
  16. I know alot of people that like art also like music...when I want to take a break from my art, I like to go to SingSnap and listen to karaoki, and when in the mood, record a few karaoki songs myself...so I thought I'd share this link with those that might be interested ..they offer a free account and you can sing/record as many karaoki songs as you want (some members have recorded thousands of songs) and they have a variety of genres.....I just finished a karaoki song so I figured I'd let you all hear me bellar out a country song. (plse be nice tho, ...it was very late when I recorded this one...n b'sides, like i said, SingSnap is just a place to have fun when you want a break from other stuff ) http://www.singsnap....snap/r/b7b0b5bd
  17. hi, Rene..thanks ,....I did use seperate layers that I put spheres on (6 layers total for both the eyes).just temps, tho....but you're right, I do need to create the eyelids on a seperate layer,,will do that asap.
  18. try turning off 'symmetry' before performing any actions....you may also need to export, then close 3DC, then re-open 3DC, to swipe it's memory clean...maybe some others will come along n give some input on this also. I'm just a hobbyist, too, at this point, but I bought 3DC to fullfill that desire to create that drives most hobbyists, lol,,,it was more than worth the $$ spent, imo. n to be honest, I wanted to give Andrew back the 50 bucks that I saved on the discount, because as said, 3DC is worth far more than the $$ I paid for it.
  19. great first works !.nice form on the zombie..(especially like the hair) .....hope you get to keep 3DC..you show lots of potential.
  20. thanks Ian,,yea it's fun to manipulate the voxels, but sometimes I just like to let go and just go wherever the voxels lead me..I created the little 'tremetabots' by just flickin my stylus in a sudden backwards stroke while scribbling with the voxel 'sphere' tool...guess I just thought it was kinda neat how the backwards stroke would slice the voxel spheres in halves,,then I started noticing that the 'split halves' resembled little creatures, so I just went with that....
  21. ha, I've heard of 'steampunk engines', but not steampunk 'microbes'...went n checked them out just now, they are
  22. yes, I forgot about the voxel logo option,,that might work well... as for your link, just click on the 'chain link/with small green ball' icon, (it's right next to the smiley icon)...and insert your link ...you can also add text to it. great animation..the rocks resemble bone/skeleton in some areas...fantastic lighting effects.
  23. the 'fly by in Vue Esprit' has lots of possibilities.....as for 'The Descendant', would be nice if you could situate the image on a plane where you could adjust the height, depths of certain areas...not sure if you could do that in 3DC...someone more experienced with 3DC may know, but Amorphium has that type of option, as well as Truespace...in 3DC, maybe if you used the image to create a shader, then you could use the 2D tool in the voxel room to paint on a plane with it, but you would need to up the size of the brush to the max in order to get a single image of it onto the plane.........(just food for thought) great artistic ideas going on here, tho...
  24. lookin good...bet those teeth took some time and patience
