[Solved] Why does this transparency appear when painting depth?
arumiat replied to PixelDust's topic in General 3DCoat
I'd wager that you have painted on Layer 0 at some stage without realising it.. -
Anybody here using TOX instead of Skype?
arumiat replied to L'Ancien Regime's topic in CG & Hardware Discussion
I've been keen to try an alternative to Skype's bloated, unreliable offering. I'm going to grab a copy, will add you on there. -
Make a shell basically gives an inner surface so that will bring the poly count up. The decimate routine maintains edges very well, - try doing it by 50% each time rather than going straight for 90% or whatever, I've gotten better results that way Lowest poly count + best detail I imagine will require autopo & baking normal maps

Yes, 3Dcoat isn't a modeller, you don't work with individual vertices or polygons. If you want to reduce the density of your sculpt, you need to resample your object in the sculpt room. If you want to work with the polygons in some way (such as the retopologised model), you need to export this into some polygonal modelling software

Trying to try out the plugin. Unity 5.3.2f1 - I open up a new Unity project. - Import 3DC plugin from asset store - save painted .3b file to the Assets folder, hierarchy looks like so: - but the assets don't load like in the video. The .3b file is read as a texture, and there's another unknown type of file I also get this console error: Any ideas?

V4.5 BETA (experimental)

I tried switching from 4.5.19 to 4.5.28 Windows 7 64bit CUDA to avoid this issue whereby I'm getting these weird unselectable areas with the pose tool, but it's still occurring. Any ideas why or how to fix? -
Copy surface detail / clone stamp in sculpt room
arumiat replied to arumiat's topic in General 3DCoat
No, I'm still on 4.5.19 as it's nice and stable for me. I have to upgrade? Thanks Carlosan -
Hi guys, Is it possible to copy areas of a voxel surface to another area in the sculpt room? For instance I'd like to clone the bumpy area to the smooth area here: I've found the Copy clay tool in surface mode but it appears not to work for me.. Thanks, T

Great to hear. Let us know how you get on. -

Which version 3DC have you installed? I uploaded a video of adding a primitive to a scene and sculpting on it https://vimeo.com/user25812176/review/152721220/7ef7dfe6b0 If that doesn't work for you then there's a problem. Can you get a screencast? Also it's worth trying the other versions of 3DC, either from the Start Menu or from your Program Files, which is afaik a fine place to install it(I have it there). Do you have an Nvidia laptop with 2 graphics cards (Optimus)? -

arumiat replied to McGyver's topic in General 3DCoat
Hmm not sure really on any of those points honestly, but I'd use your Windows Control Panel to uninstall, & also make sure that you've deleted any 3DC folders under 'My Documents'. Then download and try reinstalling the latest stable build (from the main 3DC page). Start with that & let us know how you get on. -

Any tips for sculpting fine structures like this?
arumiat replied to arumiat's topic in General 3DCoat
I haven't, - I was thinking this would be great for the zonular fibres but my main interest is realtime rendering so I'm stuck with what I can create using meshes & normals maps unfortunately. I was thinking of having a play with it though, just for my own interest. Thanks, T -
Any tips for sculpting fine structures like this?
arumiat replied to arumiat's topic in General 3DCoat
Hi Ben, close, - they're ciliary processes reaching towards the lens . I ended up using the array modifier in Blender, but I just find Blender so clumsy and un-aesthetic to use compared with 3DC. Last few days have reminded me of the value of polygonal modelling though for some purposes.. Thanks! T -
Anyone have nay tips for sculpting fine structures like this? I've only ever really worked with heavy form in 3DC so far. I'm going to try the Move tool with a custom alpha to see if I can drag out the structures, but just curious if anyone has a go-to for such a thing.. Thanks! T

Thank you David, this worked once I remembered to switch my Unity Standard shader to the specular version

The vox hide tool seems a little unstable, I'll often get the hidden voxels appearing with a slightly different scale & with weld marks. If I use it I try & perform only 1 or 2 operations in between re-showing the voxels

Hi guys, I'd like to export a png with transparency from 3DC into Unity. From reading I have disabled layer 0 & exported the texture as a PNG file, however the texture still shows as grey when brought into Unity. What am I doing wrong? Pictures attached. painted mesh painted mesh with layer 0 hidden giving desired effect how albedo png texture looks after exporting how texture looks in Unity using a Standard shader with transparency enabled (I can see this is of course a texture issue), not a shader issue. I need my png to look like this: Hope to hear, T

Rah, I am getting this course! That's something else.. -
I created a brush alpha of just some white lines on a black background, with a bit of gaussian blur. I'd like to use it to paint lines on an object, but I get these strange crossing lines /striations currently running across my painted lines Anyone any tips to get rid of these? Thanks, T

Thanks, done and the full licence text is actually in your 3DC installation folder, I thought that was an abridged version
