Member David Tailliez Posted September 17, 2012 Member Report Share Posted September 17, 2012 Hi I have an issue with 3D coat (all versions, Cuda 64bits on Windows 7), all the thumbnails attached to the 3b files are "empty", every picture show "the studio" but not the contents, anyone has the same issue or it's an issue relating to my computer ? Member David Tailliez Posted September 17, 2012 Author Member Report Share Posted September 17, 2012 Ho, thanks Digman, then it's not an issue related to computer, I have spent alot of time to check my computer (permissions, kaspersky, uac, ......) without found a solution, I understand why now lol ! Thank you for your response Digman
Contributor BeatKitano Posted September 17, 2012 Contributor Report Share Posted September 17, 2012 On linux it may not work but on windows it does. Something is indeed wrong with your computer.
Reputable Contributor digman Posted September 17, 2012 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted September 17, 2012 A few other windows users have reported this issue as well at times.... Could be a bug or possible version of Windows itself / settings, etc, etc... Something is not right, that is for sure...
Advanced Member polyxo Posted September 17, 2012 Advanced Member Report Share Posted September 17, 2012 I personally only want to get a preview through the .3b file itself. If that's not possible I prefer not getting a separate image. Can one turn this feature off?
Member David Tailliez Posted September 17, 2012 Author Member Report Share Posted September 17, 2012 It work on Windows 7 (64 bits) but only with the DX version (64b), opengl version (64b) put the studio in the image but without the models (only the studio itself, the preview materials, etc...) Strange...
Reputable Contributor digman Posted September 17, 2012 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted September 17, 2012 I was thinking the problem might be related to OGL. The linux version only uses OGL. I got enough information now to post a bug report soon. @polyxo. I do not think there is anyway to turn it off that I know of... Contributor Tony Nemo Posted September 17, 2012 Contributor Report Share Posted September 17, 2012 I'm using OGL 64 in Win 7 and all it shows is the empty scene.
Reputable Contributor digman Posted September 18, 2012 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted September 18, 2012 The interface is all 2D I believe and the model is 3D. For some reason the screen capture in OGL is not capturing the 3D model. I will post a mantis bug report tommorrow...
Contributor BeatKitano Posted September 18, 2012 Contributor Report Share Posted September 18, 2012 Andrew's probably using gdi32.dll for screengrabing the window at save time, it can't grab ogl as it's not at the same level as windows rendering api. Btw, is there a real reason to use ogl version on windows ? There's more bugs and the performances are subpar compared to dx version (whatever your card is) contrary to what the installation choice menu says... I honestly wouldn't be against removing ogl version for 4.x as this would be easier for bug reports and maintenance of the program, since we see a lot of complaint from ogl users... (on windows ofc) Btw this is a bit freaky to think that the program may be leaning against a crumbling wall at few places, the win32 system is a gonner in about 3-5 years time (the next windows after windows blue's out). Any app using it right now will need a major rewrite when that happens. Pixologic already started to move to the 64bits system to avoid this situation for instance. Contributor Tony Nemo Posted September 18, 2012 Contributor Report Share Posted September 18, 2012 Aw shucks, I've been using OGL since I moved from GTX9600 to GTX 560 Ti.

Member David Tailliez Posted September 18, 2012 Author Member Report Share Posted September 18, 2012 Btw, is there a real reason to use ogl version on windows ? The OpenGL version seem really more responsive on my computer on alot of painting functions, else, you're French ?.
Contributor BeatKitano Posted September 18, 2012 Contributor Report Share Posted September 18, 2012 Ogl version also tends to give dirty strokes... it may appear faster (and sometimes it really is) but the stroke quality in voxel room is definitely worse than directx. On a personal note I can't work with ogl for a simple reason: shadow bug. Activate shadow in the viewport, and on some shaders it gets the infamous cut out effect anf this is also true in render room. I can't properly evaluate my shapes without being able to visualize shadows/hillights. It may look like nitpicking to some, problem is ogl version is full of little bugs like that, which are not present in directx...

Member JVin Posted October 5, 2012 Member Report Share Posted October 5, 2012 I've got simmilar problems with the ".jpg"s not showing properly (using Windows 7, x64, CUDA, Open GL) and I was wondering, how can I go about disabling this feature?
