Member harel Posted September 20, 2010 Member Report Share Posted September 20, 2010 From programing to programing, I feel the need to Sketch some in 3d.. I like the workflow, Much different then what I've thought (in good manner) Dragon Head: Kinda hard to make sharp line in reasonable poly-count..
Advanced Member 3DArtist Posted September 20, 2010 Advanced Member Report Share Posted September 20, 2010 Nice sketch! It's possible to get sharper edges in surface mode using the pinch tool. But as soon as you switch back to voxel mode, the mesh is regenerated and tends to smooth out sharp areas if the resolution is not sufficient. So one workflow is to switch to surface mode towards the end of the sculpt to do the sharpening.
Advanced Member michalis Posted September 20, 2010 Advanced Member Report Share Posted September 20, 2010 Nice sketch indeed!! Great colors. Yeah, using the last mac build this smoothing is less visible maybe because I can work in higher resolutions now. Sharpening should take place in the end because the worst is to increase resolution, this is my problem. Pinch along with the scrape, the move and the build tool are my basic voxel or surface tools. Member harel Posted September 20, 2010 Author Member Report Share Posted September 20, 2010 Thanks 3DArtist, michalis.. (And here I find myself excuse to leave VisualStudio) Sharper Verizon: I need to leave the low poly habbit outside of 3dCoat. in the long run I can always retopo it..
Contributor LJB Posted September 21, 2010 Contributor Report Share Posted September 21, 2010 Looking good, try using the copy tool in the vox room to create those plates on a seperate layer the you will be able to get a far crisper edge. My advice would be do not try and go too far with Voxels they are great for roughing out the form but as soon as you try and push them too hard for detail you will very quickly find you sculpt unstable and hitching performance, even on the strongest system. Member harel Posted September 22, 2010 Author Member Report Share Posted September 22, 2010 Thanks.. I'll look into it I actually starting to like the paint room more then the voxel room.. The normal brush is insane. far more stable in high detail..

Advanced Member michalis Posted October 22, 2010 Advanced Member Report Share Posted October 22, 2010 Nice models! You have to keep working on voxels mode as much as you can. You turned to surface mode too early, lot of stretching now.
Advanced Member Rich_Art Posted October 22, 2010 Advanced Member Report Share Posted October 22, 2010 To understand this correct, Surface mode is for adding final details? I thought it was the other way around, Starting in surface mode for quick sculpting and finishing up with voxol for fine detail. I'm wrong then..... Peace, Rich_Art. Contributor BeatKitano Posted October 22, 2010 Contributor Report Share Posted October 22, 2010 There's no proper workflow, whatever works for you, but you have to know that surface offer crisper edges an crisper details if voxel resolution is high enough. Some use that extra crispiness for their final bake/export. But like I said, there's no obligatory worflow, like many apps it's the intent and the result that count
Advanced Member Rich_Art Posted October 22, 2010 Advanced Member Report Share Posted October 22, 2010 Thanks. I'll experiment with this knowledge. Peace, Rich_Art.
Member harel Posted November 22, 2010 Author Member Report Share Posted November 22, 2010 Here's Image that I made for contest in 3dBuzz. The worm and the Track modeled in 3d-coat(Thanks to Tinker Objects), all the rest with Maya and Photoshop:
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted November 22, 2010 Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 22, 2010 Oh! Nice vehicle. Is it all made out of 3d-coat primitives? Wow! Bravo.
Member harel Posted November 23, 2010 Author Member Report Share Posted November 23, 2010 Hi Thanks yeah, most of it. I did some thing myself.. but most of it made with Tinker model and cut-clone tool.
Applink Developer haikalle Posted November 23, 2010 Applink Developer Report Share Posted November 23, 2010 Really nice picture. I like the color theme of the picture a lot. It's good to see how 3d-coat is used in 2d art too. More these, please.
