Reputable Contributor digman Posted January 6, 2011 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted January 6, 2011 3DCoat version 3.5.09A Linux 64 bit non cuda. Edit: I should have said unwanted new polygons... (ones I did not create) I noticed that when you apply symmetry under the retopo menu in the retopo room that "Unwanted New Polygons" are created along the symmetry lines. Steps to recreate the problem. Import the default creature from the samples folder as a reference mesh into the paint room. Import the same creature mesh in the retopo room under the import menu and snap to the reference model in the retopo room. Turn symmetry on for the Z axis. Apply symmetry for all layers under the retopo menu Turn off symmetry New polygons have been created "very close and on top of the original polygons"along the symmetry line Check pictures to see the result. The picture on the left is of the original mesh before symmetry. no problems. The picture on the right is after the steps I discussed above. I pulled out the new polygons so you can clearly see them. I did not pull out all the polygons it made but just showed you these ones. This happens rather there are uv seams or not.

Andrew Shpagin
It is easy to resolve. "Mirror snapping" should not be zero. The issue happens it you will set it exactly to zero. Anyway, I made that Apply symmetry will work correctly with Mirror smnapping=0.
