Member another666 Posted January 29, 2013 Member Report Share Posted January 29, 2013 I am a Zbrush user who has a Educational license of 3Dcoat, I am thinking about upgrading to Pro but !!! Its £200 so I am umming and arring about the move. So my question is why should I buy 3Dcoat, are there any other Zbrush users who use both and why ? Thanks for the advice with this
Andrew Shpagin
There are a lot of ZB users there who use both packages. Imo they complement each other very well but they are different by modeling approach + you are getting excellent painting and retopo tools. +now you will get free upgrade to V4 if you will buy upgrade edu->pro. Thanks for the advice with this A lot of changes/enhancements in 3D Coat are a direct result of ZB users here submitting feature requests and offering their input...especially in regard to presets and sculpting brush behavior. I'm very happy about that, as it's a much better sculpting application because of it.
Contributor TimmyZDesign Posted January 30, 2013 Contributor Report Share Posted January 30, 2013 I use both Zbrush and 3D-Coat. Overall I think 3D-Coat is easier and faster to use than Zbrush. On the other hand, Zbrush still has many very useful features, so I sometimes send my models back to Zbrush. Mostly I prefer to stay in 3D-Coat if I can. Advanced Member Polygoon Posted January 30, 2013 Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 30, 2013 ^ Same here. I use both too. I agree with all statements above. Another thing that is really good in 3D coat is the UV tools, a lot better control and very nice to use. Texturing, with Per Pixel at least, (I haven't used the other modes that much), is also very good and integrates with photoshop beautifully. Advanced Member alvordr Posted February 3, 2013 Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 3, 2013 I hope you like it. I want to do the same, when I can. My opinion is that ZB has more mature brushes, but pretty much everything else I prefer 3DC so far. Good luck with it!
