  1. Thanks for the info, I guess i missed out then... Since this has probably made the site get loads of traffic now maybe they will lower the main price to keep interest going.
  2. How long is this deal running now it has finished? and did everyone that purchased get it working ok? I am possibly going to buy if i still can. It's good they are doing refunds (apparently) to the current owners also because if i owned a $1195 that was later just $40 i would get really annoyed, for everyone else though it seems like a amazing deal though. Also just wondering how well does it work in combination with 3DC? i noticed there is now a app link for it which is good.
  3. +1 vote I have requested this before also as it would be very useful. In a perfect user resources system we would just have the option to set some root folder paths in a dialog and then it lists all folders and sub folders with all the images found and has a refresh button. It would make things so much faster and your not limited to placing brushes in set locations or going through a slow process when adding new resources. The same thing would be good for textures, alphas, objects etc and any loadable resources also. I can't do it right now as i don't have much time today but this request should be added to the mantis thing as it would make things more organized and faster to use. But yeah a system like that would be amazing to have.
  4. Why not just have a new section on the website/forum with different color schemes you can download and place in the 3DC folder in the My Documents folder and a quick way to switch them on the GUI. This is what silo does but it has custom positioned image buttons etc which these could also do. Having the option to use icons in 3DC rather than text would be quite interesting also as i quite like how easy Sketchup's GUI is where you can place icons and hide them etc.
  5. As people are coding things for blender i guess there will be something like that built in or there will be a addon for it some time. I am guessing there will also be competition for it soon also probably with SDK etc available. Usually when things get interest like this they don't stay unique for long, just look at iphone and ipad there is now loads of phones and tablets that look similar and work very much the same way.
  6. +1 Vote, there is even more good news now also with a possible scripting system and SDK - http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4372&view=findpost&p=57129
  7. http://twitter.com/andrewshpagin - Nice, i have been suggesting scripting or a SDK for a while now and this would be really great, the app link thing definitely worked well so it will be interesting to see what sort of things people can make with a real SDK or scripting. With C++ plugins/scripts it would allow 3DC to do a similar thing to blender and enhance the app a lot with new tools and options. There has been a lot of good news recently with 3DC, this is really great.
  8. I don't believe in god but it doesn't really put me off buying a good product if the developers do. I guess though if there is some big discussions about it going on with forums then it could be like free advertising. It's Andrews choice of course but reading that suggests the our voice thing is not such a good idea for the company's image as a lot of people don't like it much. The other main thing from that thread is people don't like the GUI either. I find it ok but it could do with some adjustments and certain things updating like the preset system.
  9. Farsthary has had other projects than unlimited clay though like procedural textures, physics and UV relaxing etc. I am guessing the sculpting will be the first big focus but hopefully things like this will be added also and i am sure Farsthary has lots of other great ideas also.
  10. +1 vote Andrew is not a robot (I am guessing) and i remember when i made the suggestion that a team of devs would be good for the program a while back but some people did not like it. Now people do like the idea and it is great because it means even faster development, more chance the project stays active and hopefully lots of great ideas and developments for the program. Farsthary is a really great choice for a new team member also so this is really great news.
  11. Now that farsthary is part of the 3DC the team i think the main focus will be the unlimited clay style stuff but hopefully terrain/voxel noise will also be developed. There was a blender project for planet textures - http://farsthary.wordpress.com/2010/11/24/new-planet-procedural-texture Right now alphas can be used but these types of seamless noises to distort/sculpt a surface with randomness would be great.
  12. Not sure if it would help with a app link or better model support in 3DC but i just noticed on the blender forum that rhino made it's SDK open source - http://blog.rhino3d.com/2011/01/rhino-sdk-goes-open-source.html
  13. Yeah that would be really cool, this was actually discussed recently - http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7322 Something like object spray would be better as a new tool though i think, this tool would be very useful for loads of things. Also if you have a seamless tile this is great for terrains so other things that go great with that would be surface noise and weather/decay effects - http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7356 http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4306&st=0&p=33438entry33438 In the second thread the main request would also be great which is particles with natural/slope build up which would also work well as a mode for object scatter. Merge tool is great but new tools like these would take things to the next level of greatness.
  14. Wow if this is true that is really great news, i have seen some of the best blender projects from farsthary so there will be some great things in development i am sure.
  15. I have read on a few blogs that they later said they left it open by choice and they thought it was good people were working with it. Probably because there is another company that will be releasing the same technology without the need for xbox/special driver things etc and probably at a lower price. MS is now making a windows/multi platform version also i think probably so it stays the leader for a while before other company's do a similar thing. I think some of the things people are doing with the technology is quite cool, there is also some 3d scanner and motion capture things now and i think blender has some project to use this being made. It would be interesting if Andrew added support for it, maybe to make a 3d cast of something or to do a similar thing to that 3d pen so you can sculpt with your hand etc.
  16. Your blog is a great idea Taros, for some reason the pages scroll slowly in firefox but this seems to happen with other blogspot blogs also. I don't know if my ideas and bug reports have ever been read by Andrew or if i should try and re-post them all on mantis now. I often check the List of changes and there is not really much from what i have posted before ever done but there is only one developer from what i know and many other things to do already. I guess my main questions are if forum content is being added to mantis already and how important are forum posted requests and bugs now that there is mantis?
  17. Cool thanks for the tips, very useful Procedurally based surface noises would be very useful voxels tools. Procedural/Interactive weather effects would also be very cool, i had a few quick ideas a while back - http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4306&st=0&p=33438entry33438
  18. The new version seems great so far after testing I noticed there is a new bugs system and read the blog post but i am just wondering about this. Does this mean that older forum posted bugs will now be less important? Will these still be on the to-do list - http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6259 http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6722 Also are people posting things from the forum? By this i mean is there some forum regulars that will read the topics and note any good suggestions etc they find to make sure they are listed.
  19. That is good news that the GUI will be worked on. Seems like it's getting lots of updates also and i noticed there is a new version released today.
  20. These would be great things to add +1 A way to spray objects would also be great, it might be better as it's own tool though because then you can make it more customized for the task. I can imagine being able to select a set of objects like rocks and then spraying them onto a terrain to make it more realistic or maybe sculpt into formations etc. This would be a really great tool and would have many uses.
  21. This is a great app but i disagree with the new silo comment mainly because i don't like the GUI much so i don't find the workflow as good. I think silo has a much nicer layout and also has good customizations users have made, some people think GUI is not important but it is if you are going to be using a program a lot. That said it could be improved though and it's already got some nice features like the 3DC app link so it's a great app and it looks like it will get even better in the future if they listen to peoples feedback.
  22. Nice ideas Spiraloid, i hope they get added. By the way for some reason the vimeo link you posted does not seem to work. This is a big request for me also - http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6722&view=findpost&p=52493 I think of it as un-finished right now as it seems the preset system is built for paint mode. I really hope Andrew listens to my ideas for presets as i think it could be a huge workflow improvement.
  23. You are entitled to make feature requests I think the solution would be some more option to customize the menus etc. I recently asked to be able to set a delay time for menus because they can close very quickly, with a few options though people would be able to customize the menus to the workflow they use so it would be a good idea i think. If it's just done one way while fine for some it could be a problem for others so customization options are always great to have.
  24. Yeah if you use layers that helps things a lot. If it's just 1 object/part on a layer it also allows you to have very high resolution, even if things get slow then you can just switch to another layer after and it will be fast again.
