  1. Hi Hermitcrab, I'd love to get an Ender. I've been trying to get them to send me one to review. Haha if you didn't see my YouTube channel I have some printer reviews on there. Http://youtube.com/philnolan3dj
  2. I don't have an official answer but I don't see anything that says you will have to pay every year. The new version is being called 2021 but that doesn't necessarily mean there will be a 2022. Plus you're buying a never-ending perpetual license so after you buy you can keep using it forever. Also keep in mind there are many free updates until the next paid version releases.
  3. If they're going to be animated I'd say it is important to have correct topology. I would start with an octogon at the nipple tip, split down the middle to make 2 quads, then keep expanding rings of quads around it. As you get further out you may want to make a 4 point triangle in a couple of discreet places so your quads don't get too big.
  4. Hey guys, just wanted to share, I reviewed this new 3D printer. The detail is really nice. It's slightly louder than the Sonic Mini I reviewed but that's the only down side. I show a bunch of models I printed with it, in several different resins.
  5. That's a great use for 3DC. I've used it for illustrations in pamphlets before.
  6. Hi Michael, good luck with your upcoming game. I'm sure it will be great!
  7. Welcome! Glad to have you here. We'll be happy to answer any questions. I would love to see more of the tree generator too, the early version was pretty cool.
  8. Yeah, it might be tricky to have a bridge when they're on different devices though.
  9. For shiny stuff what you can do is spray it with some dry shampoo. I get mine from the dollar store. It dries in a few seconds then wipes off very easily with a damp paper towel or even just your fingers. It actually comes off a little too easily so you can't really touch it while you're scanning. The down side is that you won't get the color textures, so you'll have to paint it again in 3DC or something.
  10. Uncle Jesse just posted a video on Nomad Sculpt. A sculpting app for Android and ios. I tried it on my Note 20 Ultra and it's surprisingly good. The s-pen has pressure sensitivity and the app uses multiple levels of detail. I was able to get up to 6m quads. I'm not sure if that was the limit of my ram or because it's a trial version. The trial version is free and can't save or export, and only one Undo. Full version is $15 usd Might be a good companion for 3DC for sculpting on the go. Here's Uncle Jesse's video. 11. I was just using reality capture today and having trouble. Maybe I'll give this a go.
  12. If modo still uses LWO for export it loads well in 3DC, assuming it's based on LWO 2015 or earlier.
  13. I would suggest using Stamp mode on the E panel, rather than Stamp Drag mode (right next to it). It should keep your shape and allow you to scale and rotate it while click and drag.
  14. I believe I posted links to my other videos on this machine for laser engraving and CNC carving. I've finally made one on 3D printing.
  15. If you buy and then a new version is released right after I'm pretty sure they'll give you the upgrade.
  16. Not the same but you could use the Split tool and set the Border Width (top of the screen) to 1.0. the cut has zero bevel so with a high res object you can't even tell that a cut happened until you look at the Sculpt Tree.
  17. I'm always looking for jobs to do if you want to contact me. Phil@philnolan3d.com
  18. Honestly unless I'm doing animation I usually just turn on Realtime Render, let it go until it looks nice, then take a screenshot.
  19. I've mentioned it to them over the past few years with no result. It is still supported but like most programs, only the older versionof LWO. So from LightWave you have to go to File > Export and choose the 2015 version of LWO. it's annoying to have to save a separate version of the file but it works.
  20. I haven't used Bryce in like 20 years. Do they even still sell it? I have used Vue more recently but probably like 10 years ago. I'm no expert on either. I do seem to recall Vue having more features for actually generating terrain, like sculpting it yourself. And plants too I think. Unfortunately all of Terragen's plants are imported objects from X-Frog or something. I do think TGs renders look better.
  21. Ah, sorry I misunderstood the original post.
  22. Hard to tell if this is Voxels or Surface mode but either way if you look at the Sculpt Tree panel you will see all of the objects in the scene. Right-click one and from the menu pick "Merge with (Move to...)" and then choose the other one. If you're using voxels they should just merge together. Surface mode can work fine but occasionally gives a boolean error. In that case it might be essayist to convert it to voxels first.
  23. Ugh I just finished installing the last one! LOL Thanks for all the updates, this one looks very useful.
