Javis
Here's the Trello card to vote: https://trello.com/c/P3tkygsk Here's the FR on Mantis with a description and mockups (also attached) of the concept (nothing too wild, just a standard outline panel similar to Modo, Maya, etc.): http://3d-coat.com/mantis/view.php?id=1141 VOOOOOTE! Thanks.
Advanced Member spacepainter Posted August 9, 2014 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 9, 2014 (edited) It is not clear how to vote in this trello thing. It sounds like a good idea though! Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted August 9, 2014 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted August 9, 2014 Great ideas, but I hope Andrew can do some UI consolidation while working on this. BeatKitno submitted some mockups of what that would look like. I submitted to Andrew some mockups of moving the Toolbar options to the TOOL OPTIONS panel...in order to clean up the clutter in the UI, and put all the...well, Tool Options in one location....rather than scattering them across the whole UI
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted August 9, 2014 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted August 9, 2014 As you can see, that makes the UI look MUCH, MUCH cleaner and more friendly to new users

Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted August 9, 2014 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted August 9, 2014 sorry, me or... ? i done it Mainly you. But also anyone else, who would like to see it cleaned up. In the same effort (creating an Outliner + consolidating parts of the UI), we need a more efficient way to send assets between the rooms. 1) Paint Room to Voxel Room (to do some voxel sculpting > bake/merge right back) without messing up all the texture work one may have done.Perhaps a "Send Object(s) to Voxel Room" icon in the tool panel? 2) A "Bake to Paint Room" tool in the Voxel Room. This would let the user simply bake new maps (whichever they choose) directly to the mesh that's in the Paint room (like the Texture Baking tool lets you choose and external mesh), and place the new maps on new Paint layers 3) "Send Object to Retopo room" (to tweak/edit the mesh) icon in the Paint Room Tool Panel 4) "Replace Object in Paint Room" icon. So, even if you've done some texture painting on an object, if you need to edit the mesh at some point you can do that in the Retopo room and get it back without a lot of fuss. Going back to create a mouth or eye socket would be a good example. Or maybe you noticed that there is a hole in your mesh you didn't notice before. I've had that happen a few times. These might seem off topic, but they are part of the effort to streamline the UI and handling of assets in the scene....which an Outliner would be a core component of. Some of these functions could be handled via RMB menu in an Outliner, too.
PolyHertz
Looks like getting a unified outliner is currently the most wanted feature listed on Trello (followed closely by "Painting past UV shells / Bleeding"). So after Masks I suppose this will be the next big update

Javis
Please add your vote. https://trello.com/c/YPBO8KNJ Yes indeed. Please everyone vote for it. Here's that link again just in case (email subscriptions don't include quotes unfortunately): https://trello.com/c/YPBO8KNJ IMHO this should be part of the next UI overhaul. Hopefully 4.2. Organization is a feature and should be implemented in this exact way.

As powerful as ZBrush is (and their new release looking pretty slick, too), they still can't get away from that Alien UI of theirs. This is where 3D Coat could make itself look much more attractive, as an alternative....a really clean UI, streamline asset exchanges inside the app (rather than having to export out and re-import into another workspace...that just makes no sense at all) and much improved organization. An Outliner panel would go a LONG, LONG way to making that happen.
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted August 10, 2014 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted August 10, 2014 Carlos can you add this "Contours functionality to the Strokes Tool" to the Trello list, under the Retopo Room? It's been brought up on this board, before, and I don't know if it has a request on Mantis or not. But, it and a few tweaks to the Strokes tool (like an option to "Avoid Selection through object" and the ability to use the Rectangle or Elliptical Marquee Selection draw modes to lay down perfectly round, square or rectangular strokes) would make 3D Coat stand out again as a Retopology toolset
Carlosan
i was just adding this, lol Draw strokes "on the air", not limited to "over a volume" to create polysurfaces done Contours functionality to the Strokes Tool
PolyHertz
While we're on the topic of the retopo room, I just added this to Mantis and Trello: "Brush relax function that works based on actual topology": http://3d-coat.com/mantis/view.php?id=1572 https://trello.com/c/eb0be2am/256-brush-relax-function-that-works-based-on-actual-topology I saw there's a request for a relax selected tool, but in this case I think it would make more sense to fix the existing relax brush tool first. Carlosan
How 3DC manage the object and object data ? How manage class and class.array interactions? could be added to one project a link to another object in another project ? same about object data, could be a shader, material, etc... be linked as "instances" or "proxy" ? Each .3B file contains a database ? This database contains all scene objects, retopomeshes, textures, paintlayers, configs, settings, lights, render settings. that are in the file ? Every object need to be a container to be added to the outliner metadata list, but are params destructives ? Could be added modifiers to any object data?
