    • That’s not a universal reality; that’s just your reality! To create effects, you need polygons, traditional modeling is essential. I don’t understand why you said it’s useless. CAD and Animation/VFX/Games have different requirements.
    • again ... these are all things weve not just wanted but needed in todays world .
    • but wouldnt it be nice to have this inside one room , all tools where you want and when you need them , if ive sculpted a stylized desk and want some screws , it would be nice to scroll own and have the modelling tools there, and then whatever you model will show up in one set of layers , not layers here , polygroups there etc ...   i know 3dcoat find it hard to pull in potential new customers , but what is the point of having a ton of tools that work ok, and arent stable compared to a solid set of sculpting tools and modelling tools ,    it like everything gets started and then they get bored and leave it , the modelling tool are is dire need of revision ... weve begged for these to be reworked , have a tool set that would incorporate not only a good workflow for modelling but one you can use inside a sculpt room , personally having tools like zmodeller would work perfectly , its one tool with all the variations inside . the sculpting tools need revision , theres alot of brushes that dont really work  or needed , if i was a new customer now i wouldnt buy into 3dcoat , it just too hectic and doesnt have a vision anymore
    • My intention is not to contradict you, but imagine I'm a CAD user looking for alternatives to Fusion or SolidWorks. Why should I pay for 3DCoat, which is not specialized in CAD? Instead, I would choose Plasticity, a dedicated CAD software that is also cheaper than 3DCoat, since 3DCoat includes other features that are irrelevant to someone working with CAD software. My point is that Pilgway is turning 3DCoat into a chaotic software by scattering tools everywhere in a way that lacks direction. Initially, I bought 3DCoat to replace ZBrush after Maxon acquired it. Then, I wanted to replace Substance Painter with 3DCoat, but it didn’t fully meet my needs in some areas. Later, I considered using 3DCoat for UV mapping because it’s fast, but it doesn’t support UDIM creation. I’d love to see new tools, but since there is only one developer per room, other competing software has more people working on specialized features. Obviously, users will switch to software with more refined workflows because it’s more practical and efficient.
    • I agree that stability should be priority No.1, merging the Paint and Retopo/Modeling Meshes should be priority No.2, and rewriting the paint brush from scratch should be No.3...so that it can handle large brushes radius' without bogging down (it's a shame that investing a lot of money in hardware upgrades does not really help alleviate this problem in 3DCoat...since it's beginning...there is some type of bottleneck in the code that is preventing even the best CPU's from performing well with a big brush size).   However, this new "Smart Hybrid" tool not a useless technology, guys. It may not fit your needs, but it is opening 3DCoat up to the same market as Plasticity. Pilgway decided that it cannot compete with a free application like Blender, that is sustained by massive corporate donations, in the small, niche Entertainment market. They want to diversify their portfolio, so to speak, by providing a bridge between the CAD and Entertainment markets. The main appeal for 3DCoat is that it allows a very liberating (No stretched polygons to worry about) Concept Design workflow, using Voxels (or Surface mode tools), and the Designer has options to use Poly-Modeling tools or NURBS, or in this case a Hybrid workflow between them. After the Design is made, it can be exported in whatever format they need. So, once more, it may not be for you and it may not seem like a good idea for you...if 3DCoat were only a creation tool for Entertainment Industry usage. Andrew can and does work on the other areas that we are all interested in, and there are other developers working on tools we have all been asking for. You may not see it just yet, but it's cooking in the oven.
    • In the documentation it says this about 3dcoats rooms.  3dCoat is designed that way. This has made me think of each room differently when approaching a project.   https://3dcoat.com/documentation/manual/getting-started/
    • No, we suggest this scenario. You make a table and screws in the CAD room And texture in the Paint room. You make a plant in the Sculpting room, then retopo and paint a plant.
    • i know exactly what you mean ... i have trouble managing the meshes i have in each separate room , this does feel like another separate software  whats say we make a screw inside nurbs , then we need to take it to modelling room to add screw details like the heads cross etc then you think you want to add alpha of degrading screw alphas around it inside sculpt room , then you think you want to change it again and not have a bolt end but instead a pointy screw end which you could use pose tool which doesn't smooth the selection , so you think i know ill use proportional scaling inside modelling room but you cant because the mesh you are currently working on in sculpt room now has no affiliation with the mesh inside the modelling room , you could retopo the mesh by hand wasting hours or use autopo which loses the topology flow and causes shading errors or doesnt work at all and youre back to square one . can you see how hard the software is to use if we only had 3dcoat to use  i would have to import this mesh in and out constantly and in the end , me modelling inside blender or zbrush has a faster and less destructive workflow and i can dedicate all my time inside these softwares
    • we desperately need a revision of brushes inside sculpting , we need a sharp draw brush like damian standard ive tried to replicate the brush with tons of different setting but non are working , and the a true trim brush , at the minute the flatten-trim brushes take chunks out of the mesh the rate at which the trim initiates seems too slow so you get chunks of flat areas and no a smooth uniform finish that the (blender scrape or zbrush hpolish ) would provide , lately the move brush has had a strange lag where you cant accurately move the mesh , it stutters at a million polygons and probably pre christmas maybe 24.22-30 it used to handle high polys no trouble

    • Hi May be the brush size is very small ? Kepp pressing over the model with RMB and drag the cursor right or rotate up the MMB to expand the cursor and look if the red zone appears This is the default setting
    • I need some help. My pick and paste function has stopped working properly.  When I select the tool, the tool invokes but fails to actually function, it shows the panel menu with the various buttons but the red reticule cursor used of selecting a piece of geometry does not display.   I often get a fatal error message:  Out of memory.  You should increase your virtual memory... I've tried using it on a smaller file with no change I've tried using it in an earlier version of 3D Coat and it still fails to work. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 33.g Gig of available memory 64 Gig of physical memory 249 Gig virtual memory I'm running a PC with Microsoft 10 Home Intel Core i7 processor I'm trying to avoid building a new machine if I can help it I work from home as a hobbyist so I don't have anyone to ask when I get stuck, any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
    • You can write about bugs in the corresponding forum threads. We carefully record all bugs, try to reproduce them and pass them on to the developer.
    • Reported the issue to the developer. Thanks! As a workaround, you can switch all instances to voxel mode and then merge.
    • Technically no, but i have a bad felling it will work as separate (isolated) technology, with own rules, room, tools, bugs. For me as customer it means you will spend all your time, to make it work - first, fix the bugs - second, make it useful - third. I can forget about fixing retopo or some improves in sculpt room, or even a chance to make modeling room to be a little bit useful. I know, you are one who have to manage three rooms: Retopo, Modeling, CAD. Can you handle them all? I respect you, but i'm convinced this technology is Pigway mistake. You are too small team for introduction another potentially dead new technology.
    • CAD does not create a new type of mesh. Using CAD, the designer quickly creates a part and quickly textures it.
    • When i first read that, I said, wow, are you gonna convert paint, polygroups, sculpt mesh into one, that fantastic, that's my century-old dream. But after demo, i said wow, you added the fourth mesh - CAD. I felt a little bit scammed. You said it's a designers century-old dream. Who are these people, why i can't find them in the forum? Please show up and say "Yes i wanted this feature in 3DCoat!".
    • I now want to add features for the Smart Hybrid and will make a video of car design with this tool. I have long dreamed of creating a new technology for car design. This technique is intended for sketch design. In the first stage, the artist creates with large strokes and then moves on to details.
