  1. this is a WIP, of course, so I still have a ways to go. I haven't even started working on his hand section yet, so it's still just a blob right now. I built this in Archipelis, and when I brought it into 3DCoat, I lost the symmetry ...(I don't think that was 3DCoat's fault) but hopefully I'll be able to copy the right side to the left side, if not I may just start it over from scratch. I finally got to watch 'Dinosaur' the other night, (loved it ) and was inspired to create this dinosaur as a study lesson. I'm focussing on the anatomy form/structure first so it isn't detailed, but this is it for now. (comments welcome) before smoothing aftersmoothing
  2. I'm no expert at sculpting, but I think it looks fantastic. especially if its your first try at voxels....would like to see you finish him (paint/texture) ?..
  3. hey, Shnitze...did you forget to upload a pic, or did you just want to wait til u made more progress before posting a pic of it ?... yea, that symmetry does get out of kilter..can be a real pain at times...sometimes mine will just stop working at all on the left side........i'm bad about not making sure my symmetry is in line with my model before i start working on it...don't guess there's any remedy to adjust the symmetry on a model once you've started working on it (or before you start, either) ,,or at least i haven't figured a remedy for adjusting it yet. looking forward to seeing your progress on this model.
  4. ha, he's looking real now...love the colors/tones
  5. well, imo, that big hole right above each eye would be a perfect spot to build up a ridge and add the spiral horns to (or non-spiral might work, too) and a breastplate of some kind might look sharp, too.
  6. was piddlin in Archipelis 2 and wondered how it would work out if I imported the model that I created in Archipelis 2 into 3DCoat, so that I could touch up on my painting (Archipelis 2 has a fill bucket but no paint brushes) and smooth my model out a tad...so I tried it.I imported it into 3DCoat as a 'paint per pixel'..the entire process turned out really well from start to finish for being a first time try at it....when I imported my model into 3DCoat as an .obj, even tho I hadn't merged all the parts before I exported it out of Archipelis 2, it imported into 3dCoat as a group, but with no layers,,....but even so, 3DCoat still let me use the fill bucket for seperate colors on each part of the model that had been seperated (unmerged) in Archipelis 2...so that was great.... this was mostly just a test run of modelling in Archipelis 2 and import/paint/smooth in 3DCoat,(and I'm still learning how to operate Archipelis 2) ,so it's just a really simple free-hand model that I built for this test-run...but just thought I'd go ahead n post it... , this is my model before exporting from Archipelis 2..... my model before smoothing, painting in 3DCoat model after painting in 3DCoat model after painting in 3DCoat my model after smoothing, painting in 3DCoat
  7. looking good..like the designs on his face....guess you'll be adding horns?...personally I think it would look good also if you dragged his mouth section out n opened his mouth slightly, n then added teeth,.just a thought. . .. but then again, we're not sure where you're headed with this yet, tho....
  8. looks sharp.....here's a link for some info on the 3D conversion...there are tons of 3D and game related topics at this link (hope it helps) ; http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/ http://www.gamedev.n...p?categoryid=78 ///////////////////////////////////////////// Creating a PAK File Format<BR itxtvisited="1">[Added: 9/6/2003] Raymond Wilson Demonstrates one way of organising all your game related media files in to a single "PAK", or resource, file.
  9. hi, geo...na, they aren't seamless yet...am working towards that, tho...will try to get seamless images posted by this weekend...as for saving them, it must be a setting in your pc,?.... I can right click on each pop out image, then select ''save picture as'' ....I'll try to get them uploaded to photobucket asap, tho, then you shouldn't have a prob there. 'edit' ..I thought maybe the reason I could right-click n save the images in this thread might've been because they were in my pc folder, so I went n checked some more images in the forum (that were posted by other members) ,and I can just right-click n save them, too,..so apparently it is in your settings on your pc (probablty your internet settings) .....but again, will try n upload them to photobucket,,may be a few days, tho.
  10. hi, Tony..not sure what you mean, but I used the move tool to lower his nose...so i guess you're saying that the nose area needs to be pulled out further from his face area (instead of just being lowered)...so I'll try that, too.
  11. hi, all...I just like piddlin in my paint programs...so I thought I'd post some textures/images that hopefully some of you may find useful in your own projects. I work in several different paint/photo programs,,here's the 'short list' of some that I work with......Corel Painter 10, Corel Paintshop Pro Photo Ultimate 12, Adobe Photoshop Elements 7, Twisted Brush 15, ArtRage 2, PD Artist Pro 4, Gimp,...etc. I'll add more textures/images as I create them...if you see any that you like, feel free to right-click on the image(s) and save it to your pc folder... the images are fairly large, 1024 X 748 ....these are texture images of grass and fur/hair...but I will be posting a variety of textures, etc. you can give credit to me if you use any of my textures, but if not, that's ok, too...but some feedback would be nice if any of you find any of these or any of my future textures useful, so I'll know whether to keep posting them or not. thanks .. . . .
  12. ok..I was kinda going for a cartoonish style, (that's why I wasn't that worried bout his anatomy being real correct) but even so, apparently I over-exaggerated those facial features, I guess...but after reading my feedback, while I was re-working him, I realized what I did..even with a nose that big, the poor little guy still couldn't even breathe, lol cause I had his nose too close to his eyes...but I down-sized his nose, and then moved it down lower considerably...also down-sized his ears and cheeks...if anyone thinks any of the mentioned facial parts need down-sizing more, plse lmk...but here's what I've done so far... 'edit'.. ..probably need to lower his nose quite a bit more.....(just seemed like I was lowering it alot cause I was tryin to keep from tearing his face apart ) .will work on that. .
  13. looking good..am wondering bout the title, tho...''evil monkey''...he has features that resembles a bird,,I'm referring to his nostril/mouth area...resembles a 'beak' (imo... )
  14. ooops. .already raised the res (2X) ...is it too late to lower it ? n if it isn't then how do I lower it ? (don't see the option anywhere for lowering res)
  15. ok, thanks, Paint Guy & Scott...I'm working on 're-modelling ' his face after reading your posts...
  16. hi, Deadman21...looks good...are you going to add some more depth to his upper arms, (right above the elbows), hands, thighs and feet ? maybe it's just my perception, but those areas tend to appear to be a little on the flat side, compared to his prominant build.
  17. personally i think if you'll smooth out the 'hump', then try retopo n merge for perpix again... it will be ok ..no gurantees of course. ... 'edit' to be more specific, ..look inside the yellow square, do you see the 'gray shadows?..that's the area i would smooth out in the 'hump', so it wouldn't be as creased...
  18. some feedback would be useful ..
  19. was wondering about merging objects with different resolutions...that won't be a problem ?
  20. ok, sorry i missed the part in your comment where u need to export it out of 3DC first ...but hope Phil's suggestion works.
  21. I'm still a newbie, but you might try going to the paintroom, then select 'import'...then select 'model for per pixel painting'
  22. haven't tried it yet, but a cream called "Biofreeze" is supposed to be good,... if it's inflamed, wonder if ice packs may be better ?...well, either way, hope you n Eva both get better. ttyl ..
  23. might need to slack off on your modelling, at least a little, Phil, (and/or take extra breaks instead of long sessions) ..that ole carpal syndrome will sneak up on ya then attack like a ton of falling bricks, (usually your wrist, elbow or shoulder area..or all of the mentioned) n from what I understand of it now, it's far easier to ward it off by slacking off what's causing it to start with than to try n get rid of it by slacking off once it sets in....just a thought.
