  1. just doodlin again...will paint him after finishing details.
  2. hi, Ken...very articulate...I really like the 'beakface'...but both are great...u don't happen to know 'raybrite' do you ?..just wonderin if this is the same Ken I know from TB and ArtRage.
  3. hey, Kay..I feel for ya, girl.....I do remember several years ago, I broke my collar bone,,n had to wear a brace for about 6 months before it healed... I've been battling with carpal for several months, so even now I partly know how you must feel.. I'm certainly no doc, but wouldn't you need to get the docs to re-align it before wrapping/bracing it ?...that's what they had to do to my collar bone (don't mean to scare ya, but was one of the most painful experiences I've ever known)....but really, I'd be leary bout wrapping it without making sure it was re-aligned right.....about how much would it cost to see a doc n get xrays ? just curious.
  4. wow..now that's cool..I guess it's in the beta stages still ?..but I bet that cage costs a fortune....n I wonder if they'll advance it to the point where a viewer can actually touch the 3D paint ?..bet they will eventually.
  5. he would make a cute little monster...looking forward to your progress on this one.
  6. wow...that process gave it so much life...love the colors, etc. guess I'm gonna have to break down n invest in LightWave, eventually.
  7. hey, spacepainter...that looks cool..you are very creative with designs and color....I presume you used the wrap tool to bend it ?...looks like you had fun playing with the alphas,,I like experimenting with those, too....as for painting voxels, , if you want, go back n check out my lil yellow chicken in my 'Wings N Feathered Things' thread, ....I built it in the voxel room, then exported it as an obj, then imported it into the paint room, (imported as 'model for per pixel painting) n painted it there....then I took it straight to the render room and rendered it ..you can render it as a jpg, tga,,etc.,,or animation..in the render room, select ''render frame sequence'' and the options for the animation, turntable will open up, .(you can also export your uv maps, etc. from the paint room, then touch them up in an external editor, then import them back in..) ....as for light settings, there are 3 light settings on the far left of the 'camera' option (right above the work screen area) ...'ambient', 'primary' and 'angle'...not sure if you'll achieve the settings you require, but they are very useful.....well hope this helps and glad my wings were an inspiration to you. I'll be looking forward to more of your progress. ttyl.
  8. hi, spacepainter...you just made my day ....I'm so glad to hear that. when i post my work, I always hope someone will be inspired by it...I'll go check out what you were inspired to do in just a few minutes. ..n btw, you've inspired me to experiment even more with the wings..
  9. hi Vladimir....new forum looks great and love the 'newest topics section''..I do have one request ...is there any way that a 'view next' option could be added to the pop-up image attatchments,,,so that we wouldn't have to view them individually (unless one wanted to) ?..it's just time consuming sometimes, opening and closing, then opening and closing each one...just a thought...but again, the new look is great. edit; ...sorry bout that . ..I just now discovered the 'previous' and 'next' pop-ups on the images...so that's great....again..great work...
  10. was just playin around with ideas again...(and experimenting in voxel sculpting) .......gotta do some more fine-tuning to his body, hat, etc. (may just completely remodel his hat) ..n I'm going to try n make him a robe to wear...and some more enhancements..and I'll paint him asap.....but here he be for now.
  11. wow, thanks, Andrew... ...that'll be great...will be anticipating the new addition. I can create what resembles a tree (with branches, knots n roots) with the spike n snake tools, but not the leaves...so this will be awesome !..and seriously, Andrew..if you decide to charge a fee for this extra luxury,,will be glad to pay the extra. just a thought, but u could make it a special ''option to buy'' upgrade package or something (like Vue does on their generators/packages..they range around 40 bucks to100 bucks) ...thanks again !...
  12. haha, that lil critter made me dizzy (the turntable) ,,,gotta start waiting til i'm more awake to check out WIP threads, lol...just wanted to stop in and admire some more of your gifted work. n i'm gonna experiment with your ps tips...will let u know if anything progresses from it...ttyl.
  13. nice..looks realistic...did u use a 3DC model as a base or start from scratch ?..just wondering...looks good either way.
  14. love the 3DC tree generator..the trees look fantastic !...I don't have LW (yet), but I'm presuming I can still just export to 3DC ..?.....would someone plse leave a definite link for the final version download, and do we download it to our 3DC folder or to a seperate folder ?
  15. looking good...I've noticed that that orange shader seems to null some of the details on my models,,,would like to see this model with just a flat shader, like 3DC's 'PicMat_Clay'...'PicMat_Clay' seems to bring out more of the detail, and has less overshadowing than some of the other shaders..just a thought from another newbie .... keep up the great work
  16. hi, all...on this one I started out experimenting with the muscle tool, to create hair, but when I flipped the head of hair, it looked more like a throne, lol, so I cut out a seat in it,, and then added the mermaid....the 3DC Ringmail Alpha works great for Mermaid scales, I think.....this is a WIP, of course, so I'll be working on it and will post any progress, but here it be for now.
  17. hi, Phil...looks great...always look forward to seeing your progress.
  18. hi Hans....no...plse don't apologize ...I'm glad that you noticed that...I wouldn't want to mislead anyone intentionally....so really, thanks for checking that out...apparently I must have misunderstood one of their vids, as for thinking those were all objects made by makerbot...(but I've removed the pics samples).....I just would like to be able to create my own jewelry and figurines,etc...and the makerbot was the only DIY that I found so far, that was even close to affordable.......you said CNC mills ran around $750.00. could you leave a link to some ?,,the only ones I've found so far are around $5,000.00.......
  19. hi, Phil...their printed objects vary,as for quality,, but I've inserted a few sample pics and here's the link to their gallery on the site where they make objects with the makerbot....... http://www.thingiverse.com/ .personally I would be very satisfied with the quality based on what I've seen so far...and it's open source...so you can tweak it, reprogram it, etc, and others are working towards advancing the project as well,.....I'm sure I'll wind up buying a makerbot kit, asap (personally, I like tinkering with projects like this, and I think it'll be fun putting the kit together) and as for how the printer looks, no one's gonna be seein it except for me, anyway, lol, so it won't matter long as I can print my own objects....... I guess I was just 'thinkin out loud', when i posted this thread, n I figured that there may be others who may want to check the makerbot out even if they weren't interested in my concept,,...but thanks for your feedback. (this is a quote from their site concerning tweaking ; ) You don't have do tweak your MakerBot in a vacuum. The community is there to help. There's a google group for those that have bought MakerBots and the Forums are lively and full of good advice. If those don't work, you can always send us a note and we'll do our best to point you in the right direction Design Glut Designed Salt and Pepper Shakers for the MakerBot! http://video.aol.com...bot/29027427001 Better Living With MakerBot Episode 1: Kitchen Lamp
  20. ''Also people are using shapeways to print out''... but what would be great is if Andrew were to be interested in this concept, then along with the sales of the markerbots, he could also create a 3DCoat 3D PrintShop for us,,then he would be able to sink a portion of the profits back into 3DCoat, thus benefittng 3DCoat and it's userbase that anticipate it's advancement., so our investments would just keep recycling. as for shipping, 'flat-rate' is generally the cheapest route, as far as I know.
  21. here's my concept for making it possible and affordable for any interested individuals to own their own 'makerbot'... you may want to go to these links and check out the Makerbot 3D Printing Kit before reading further... info ; http://georgedearing...produces-itself to buy the kits ; http://reprap.org/bi...n/PartsSupplies http://www.makerbot.com/ first, we'd need to get with Andrew and see if he would even be interested in this concept, of course,,,and if he is, then ,,,we all send donations to Andrew,,,he buys the makerbot kit (around $750.00) ....the makerbot 'reproduces itself', so Andrew would be able to create an unlimited number of makerbots...he could sell the reproduced markerbots to us at a cost of between $150.00 to $300.00..., to cover the material expenses, and shipping costs and physical labor and time involved....in this way we could afford to buy our own makerbot and create our own jewlry, at material cost only (once the initial markerbot is paid for) ...and Andrew could make a small profit in the process via selling the makerbot kits to us,,and also thru creating real 3D objects, jewelry, etc. for those that don't want to invest in their own markerbot .... as for determining how much each individual would need to donate towards the initial makerbot purchase, we would maybe need to take a poll to see how many 3DCoat forum members would be interested in purchasing a makerbot kit from Andrew, (again, if Andrew is interested in this concept) then divide that number up to define the allotted amount per member that would be necassary...... .. well, that's it...just thought I'd mention this in case any of you might be interested.
  22. love the color and textures, especially on his robe. very nice details, too. ...(and the background looks fantastic).
  23. hi, Kay_Eva...he's a cutie..are you going to paint him ?. I'll be so glad when I learn more about blender...most of blender is like greek to me at this point. ..(makes me appreciate 3DC's 'plug n play' qualities) .
  24. nice work, Scott,,, look forward to seeing it textured and animated.
  25. and yet another 'duh' moment...... .. .. btw, Jake, I checked out shapeway...will try them out asap..... checked out 'desktop factory', too... n the way they talked, the general public will be able to buy their own desktop 3D printer for around $1000.00 in the next 2-3 years... http://www.desktopfactory.com/news/cnn_money.html http://www.desktopfactory.com/our_product/
