  1. Yeah! Client approved model. Bought the Hard Surface Compendium and got the link immediately. Downloading now... more later. Greg
  2. Hey Javis, those look really good. I'll be buying once I get an o.k. from a client for a job I'm working on (that means he'll owe me money, so I'll have some). And (stepping onto my soap-box), everyone, Javis has done a lot for our community - free tutorials, help etc. Let's support him by buying! We already know his work is great, and if you want to see his teaching style, look on the vimeo channel. We really need to support those who actively support us. (off the soap box). Greg
  3. I agree, I would want to see a small sample video before purchase - one that's typical of the rest of the content. Six hours seems pretty long for the subject, but just my opinion. Maybe lots of really good stuff in there getting covered, but can't know without a sample. I'm with you - I like to-the-point teaching styles (Like Leigh Bamforth's videos), but once again, that's just what I prefer. Also agree that notes that go along with a course are/would be a definite plus, but I don't remember getting those with any of the many, many videos I've purchased. Anyhow, let us know what you find out! The 'other' Greg
  4. Fun - nice work! Thanks for posting them. Greg
  5. While I always admire the technical expertise involved in creating realistic characters, this is the type 3D work I really enjoy! Great work Leigh! Greg
  6. Guess I'm easy to impress - lol. I didn't notice her aging, and didn't predict the sad ending. Greg
  7. Welcome! Please keep posting your progress! Greg
  8. Thanks Eric! Learned a few things from that! Greg
  9. I was enjoying the story so much that any strange textures or 3D work didn't get in the way. Thought it was beautifully done. I think that 3D artists in general sometimes miss the forest because they're so busy looking at the little trees. So, I guess the question is, who do we do artwork for? Other artists? If so, we will never reach a level that will please. So many cartoons now are terribly drawn, but so funny, and with such a compelling storyline and character development that we overlook how bad they look. Story is king IMO and I'm putting a crown on Sintel. Greg
  10. No problem Matt. They take a bit of getting used to, so give it a little time. Learning to navigate with them will become second nature, and you'll love it. Greg
  11. I have a space pilot and it works great. As mentioned in another thread though with windows 7 64 bit I have to start the driver as administrator first. Greg
  12. Nice! Thanks for sharing. They installed fine here. Greg
  13. I have to start my SpacePilot driver as administrator every day for it all to work for me. I'm on a Windows 7 64 bit machine too. Greg edit: I just put a link to the driver on my desktop, set the properties (compatabilty) as 'run this program as administrator' and click it in the morning when I'm ready to work. It's really not any hassle.
  14. So many things I've never noticed! Works great. Thanks for pointing it out! Greg
  15. Loving it! I wish I owned a real one. Please be sure to post when finished! Greg
  16. Fun sculpts! Like the croc especially. Greg
  17. I've worked a little more on my little cartoon guy and thought I'd update this post. I may rework the shorts so they don't look like speedos. I'm pretty sure I'm going to add bones and animate him at some point. Anyhow, thanks for looking. Greg
  18. I think it's really great that a program I bought mainly for painting and retopology has grown into what 3D Coat is now. Can't wait to see what the future holds! Greg
  19. Looking good! I really like cartoon y characters. Great to see you back posting. Greg
  20. Try lowering the brush size. Didn't work for me with a large brush, but worked when I lowered the brush size. Greg
  21. I'm still learning more about the program all the time myself. I think the blender/3d-coat workflow is a good choice, and there are lots of great blender users here too. I enjoyed making the videos, but was really glad to finish them! lol. Glad you're enjoying them. Greg
  22. Hi! I did a video series that covers a lot of what you're asking about. I'm the first to admit that the way I do things may not be the correct way, but the videos could hopefully help. The character I make in the videos is just for fun, so don't expect anything close to the pictures you linked to. Anyhow, please check them out if you like, and either way I hope you enjoy 3D Coat. I think it's a great program. Greg Oh.. here's the link: http://vimeo.com/gregwhedon/videos Note that 3D Coat has added some cool features since I did the videos, but the things I show are still valid. There may be easier ways to do them now though.
