  1. win 8.1 3dc 4.5.03 cuda dx64 in PPP room can not paint on a few small faces . The object was a spline curve in blender converted to mesh all normals are facing out and tried all brushes and paint bucket options etc. The uvs look fine . Then on the TEXT also from blender (not converted to mesh) the paint on all of the text are hit and miss . The text has a bevel on it and it is there that I cant paint on those spots Normal and uv look fine. One thing that did happen was I saved that file in 3cd closed up shop then reopened that file and on the Text 1/2 of the non-painted spots on the Text where painted. Also what does the * mean up top at the end of the file name? All other regular objects paint up fine and using color swatches no smart materials . I did not unwrap UV in blender I let 3dc do it in ppp. Thank you for your time.
  2. just a fyi i have a the Wacom bamboo and it is working in 3dc .4.5.03 (cuda dx64) win 8.1 just a thought I did have problems with it because of the usb port I had it in. mine was a sound problem worth a look.
  3. In blender your model in Edit mode hit A select all (faces) hit W scroll down to Flip Normals and your nightmare is done you could also make sure to remove all doubles also. Happens to me all the time I think its all done perfect and then you find 1,2,3, things wrong in the mesh. also 3dcoat does not like any 5 sided poles on a mesh always show up in ppp.
  4. as far as I can see SP and Blender have no app-link? or external progress per say I see Houdini 15 is getting some attention .Also it says internal gpu not recommended the very thing I have NVidia gtx 745 .
  5. my guess on this would be that 3Dcoat exports Roughness map/texture as Linear (gamma 1.0 ) which is why when you uncheck sRGB in UE4 you are telling it to compute it as Linear . Substance Painter does it that way so I can only guess 3dc is also like this I asked about RGB and sRGB in a new thread but no response yet. I would guess that Marmoset 2 is setup different . I say guess because I am just now learning all of this mostly over at allegorithmic site and how it works with what you see on your display and what is exported out. Would like to know how 3Dcoat is setup myself to know why you/I are unchecking sRGB in ue4..Basicly I have the same kinda color problem using blender which is sRGB then in 3dc the RGB # S are different .

    Sci-fi Gun

    The gun looks great but for me the trigger caught my eye as being up too high with the bend /groove as where your hand goes around the grip. Paint looks awesome on it I am looking in to getting SP soon. The gun looks heavy duty the rivets really sell it. Does it have a little red button on it somewhere like in the fith element movie...

    Super looking hand gun but having 2 views the same is killing me .Just would like to see the back or front is all . Have you loaded this to Sketchfab? the hammer in the back makes me think its a single revolver and not a semi-auto but it could be with a clip in it like that .also I see no safety switch. You should do a view with it open to load it . It looks as if it splits in half. Looks Great maybe a Quad screen with all 4 view in one. The more I look at it it also looks as if each round has its own barrel very cool.
  10. The sub pod looks great .The glass came out great would like to see the back does it have a propeller or is it nuclear lol .did you up load it on sketchfab?
  11. In PPP the RGB is linear color value? which is gamma 1.0 and I have Blender set at sRGB which is gamma 2.2 so this is why I get different color #s when typing in the same #s? ( I am just now learning all of this just would like to learn how 3dc is setup.) Michaelgdrs showed me a post to allegorithmic sp and how it is setup with how it displays in the viewport and what map data is saved as sRGB and RGB very informative to read/post. . so here I am asking if I understand it right. Over in blender I use R 0.018 G 0.800 B 0.022 and in 3dc I get R 36.00 G 231 B 41.00 it looks lighter so should I just go up to Texture>Adjust>gamma correction and set it to 2.2 ? I though I could just type in the same #s or a HEX : # 24E729 and off to school on this subject I have gone wow there is a lot to it so much info that I reread it 3 times and fill up my note book. thanks for your time on this.
  12. Hey Michaelgdrs thanks for the post about SP that explained a lot and is very informative saved me weeks of looking around. that will sure fill up my note book. Wes sure knows his stuff . another guy that knows his stuff is Bartek Skorupa on tutsplus.com .mostly blender and compositing

This is the very thing I said to myself and I don't understand how 3D coat has not had this in it from day 1 .Heck I would just like to be able to see what materials I have used on each layer ( or a history of all) .I don't know how anyone can reproduce a different model with the same materials used on it? You should have all materials used on a object/model saved with it not on it. Your layers Mixing would be awesome tool to have but I would 1st like to see what is in the layers that you are about to be mixed. I had posted a SP thread to see if it does just what your saying keeps a list of what materials used as you work I will buy it just for that alone. I am just a weekend warrior I can just imagine if your job depended on it. To me this should be a Basic 101 thing heck I think my old Ray Dream Studio 5.5 had it...(Hierarchy mode) dang I am old. I bought a 486 DX computer for $2000 at a computer show just to do 3d stuff. Oh and to play Quake . Seams like most software keeps forging ahead with the latest greatest and never takes time to look at it strip it down to take care of the core items needed. Right now I am trying to figure out why my Blender RGB #s don't produce the same color in 3dcoat as to get the exact same colors. Blender has sRGB which among other color management settings 3dcoat has none. What does SP use ? +1
  14. If you already have your image loaded in as a pbr material then try using the Paint Bucket on your mesh and turn off use albedo tolerance in the pop up . it should copy it on both side in 1 shot worth a try it works in some situations.

Thanks Carlosan I have in documents ( 3 ) 3dcoat versions 1) 3dcoat V3 This only has one folder >Exchange which has 2 text docs 2nd) 3D-Coat V4 3rd) 3D-Coat V45 should I rename v4 or v45 as OLD then install 4.5.16 version or can I just install 4.5.16 in there also? I mostly just wait for the stable factory builds but would like to try this build as it is marked stable . thanks same with windows 10 ill wait a bit till I load that up.
  16. in PPP imported a model from blender . clicked on smart materials it then does the cavity mask (auto) layer and I said yes to the ao layer but decided to delete the ao layer which it did then I tried to delete the cavity mask layer and 3dc crashed right away. I then reopened and a lot of my or all setups window popups my whole layout was gone . I also had to set the Normal map Software Preset from unknown to blender meaning it crashed hard man... Its some bad mojo I am not going to try it again . thanks for your time on this. win8.1 (DX) 64 CUDA AND 4.5.03

Yes you do ( it seams) have to send something from blender to 3dc first to see Open in Original app. then it seams once that's done there linked I did just that : blender to 3dc 1st then just deleted that object. then opened a new > surface sculpting > and that object/mesh from the Sculpt room has up in FILE> Bring Voxels Back to APP I clicked that then back in over to blender > Simple 3Dc APP-Link >Import Objects and it was there. add it to the learned something new list. Mifth script is awesome time saver! I am the Old new guy in 3dcoat learning day to day I started with Fractal Design then kids = no spare time till collage then bam back to getting up to speed lol. hope some of this helps.

I would try in PPP Smart Materials then click on the +NEW in the window on bottom that will bring up the Smart Material Properties > in there click green ball which says ... click to select color texture... then you can load in /pick your image / tga,bmp,png etc file I don't see a psd file format . name it what you want set your Preferred Mapping (you can change this) I use From Camera then save as new . Once its in select it it will overlay on your model you can resize ,rotate etc I use the paint bucket tool with Use color [albedo] Tolerance turned off then click on your model and your image is on it (both sides or all way around it this way) I love this feature in 3dc. I don't have PS loaded yet so I have not tried using Textures > Import > Layers Color it says it will bring in the color channels from PSD file to all layers. I have not tried to see what different resolution on images when applied on a model look better or not I would think a 1920 looks better then say 800 not sure how 3dc handles images in SM meaning if there is a limit on them /3dc maximum resolution . just my way of doing this im sure there are other ways still getting use to the program myself

  20. ALSO are you using the SIMPLE 3DC APP or the reg/stock one that came with blender which has no SIMPLE in its name I had to use this one (Simple) for it to work.
  21. TOP Left click on File and in there you should see" OPEN IN ORIGINAL APP" only after you click this will you see Export Options then check what you want and hit OK.
  22. hey ajz3d that's one cool looking model does he have a tail or a back fin/tip like a stegosauro ? luckly it looks as if I could out run him or atleast as they say just out run whom ever your with ...once again very cool model he looks bad enough to just where its victims fur as a fur trench coat animal matrix style.
  23. Yeah I have seen some SP Tutorials I see that sp shows you your brush settings and material setups which is called a Tool.it also keeps a history of brushes used . I would like to know if you /when you reopen that file/object that you had done work on is all that information still going to be there. its not in 3dc at all which for the life of me it should be in there right out of the gate. how can you see what you have used on a model other then writing down all the RGB info (fyi when I try those same value # s in blender I get a different color) and what stencil you have used etc.. just looking for a paint program with more info feed back/history SP seams to be it but like most tutorials don't reopen a old project. thanks any way I though I was going to get another zero post on this lol
  24. Hey Grimm when in 3DC side in PPP go up to File > you will see in the drop down list Open in original APP Click it and then you will see Export Options check what you want in it then click OK. Now open Blender and in the Simple 3d Coat APP-LINK tab click Import Objects and it should be there . ( This works if blender was the original app meaning I had first made the model in Blender and exported it over to 3dc in PPP.) As I reread your post it looks as if you made your object/Mesh in 3dc from start so no the Open in original app might not work > WOW IT does work just comes in bigger not to scale!
