  2. Has anyone run into this seam issue when exporting to Unity? It looks great in 3DCoat, but Unity shows these nasty seams.

I'm exporting from 3d Coat to Unity and things are looking a little weird (see attachment) Here's my process: 3d Coat - File>Export Objects & Textures (see attachment for settings) Drag 3d coat generated maps and model into Unity Apply the respective maps to the material, all according to the file name.IE: Head_Albedo gets dragged to Unity's Albedo in the materials Inspector window. (see attachment). Something that's interesting in this step is when dragging Head_Normal into the materials Normal Map, I get a warning that says "This texture is not marked as a normal map" With a fix now button. Drag Model into scene, I see it obviously doesn't look right (see attachment) Hit that Fix Now button, looks close, but if you look closely, the normals look weird in some spots. Any ideas on what's going on and how to fix this? 3d-Coat 4.7.24 Unity 5.6.1
  6. Hi all trying to export normal maps to be used in unity, but they get inverted. So i found out that you have to invert the green channel. But isent there a way to do that in the exporter so i dont have to go into PS to invert it?
  7. I noticed that if I take in a scanned object with "Repair Scanned Mesh", it retains all of the colors of the original. I assume these are vertex colors, but I don't know for sure. The original mesh in this case was exported from RealityCapture and DID have a UV map in the original. But when I finish my repairs and export it, there is no UV map, and no vertex colors at all. How do I repair the model AND retain at least the colors? They're still there, in the 3D Coat file. Just not in the exported FBX file. Thank you! -Chilton

Hey my fellow Artists my problem: what i want: import fbx file and paint them, export the textures and use them in Unity What I can do: works perfectly with a single fbx file with one mesh problem: fbx files which hold several other fbx files (armor, bodyparts...) with their own texture sets When I import it in 3d Coat I get the whole model with all parts kind of randomly lying around in the paint room is there a way to separate the fbx files? like just getting the armor, painting it, and maybe combine it later again with the main fbx?
  9. Всем привет. Сильно напряг вопрос переноса модели с текстурами в движок Unity. Использую официальный конвертер-ассет 3DCoat to Unity с ассет стора. Есть модель в коате ( первый скрин), ножки стула - почти чистый хром, светлый (2й скрин). Сохраняю в папку Assets проекта Unity. В итоге все металлы стали очень темный - почти черные. Отражения (блики) есть, но при этом все темное. Чистый диффуз цвета предает правильно. Так что подозреваю что проблема в карте default MGO. Когда экспортировал то же через пресет Marmoset Viewer 2, и потом залил это в мармосет - то там отображалось более менее нормально ( Metallness задал металы,Gloss - задал отражения).Сильно расстраивает что через официальный експортер не удалось правильно передать текстуры ( так как просто экспортами все выходило также плохо - темные металлы). Может кто знает как решить эту проблему? Файл приложен.

  11. So I know this is no small task but I would really like to be able to do sculpt and paint in VR. Why I think 3dc is the best suited is that at its core its voxel based. I can block things out and not have to think about whats going on under the hood (very much) Maybe you could get a grant from Oculus.. their 3d paint program sucks and they are worried because the Vive has tilt brush.. they snagged that while it was still in alpha. Also to be able to jump from sculpting to paint and back would be insane!!! I honestly think Oculus would help out with dev and $$ to get it done. This is some hair I was working on and thought.. "man I wish I could use a 3d tool to just put the clay where I want it.. instead I am trapped behind this wall of glass trying to manipulate 3d objects. " I know.. I know all we need is another woman with little bits of useless armor covering her tits but I loved the original drawing from Joe Mad and had to try.
  12. I'd like to import 3DCs default environment lighting into Unity 5 to start to try and get a more consistent workflow down. But I can't find any exr or HDRI files in 3Dcoats folder structure. Anyone know where I can get a hold of this? My plan is to then import into Unity, set as exr and see how I get on. Interested to hear anyone's thoughts. Thanks,
  13. Hi because there is not a triangulate or normal softening option in 3DC's retopo room, i had to triangulate and smooth the mesh normals in maya. When i import the triangulated mesh to unity i get this see that dotted line? that happens to every quad that has been triangulated in maya. that edge changes it visibility at different viewing angles... it suggests there is something wrong with the geometry; Any ideas why this happens?
